A good solution found here is to use a one-time scanner, such as the free version of malwarebytes:
It is a mistake to install software that scans All the Time -- nothing is gained by that and a lot of performance is lost. Most packages that scan all the time are junk. They know it provides NO additional benefit but they do it anyway
