Popup virus warning

I have been receiving a popup virus warning, claiming to be from Apple, warning me my system is infected. Trendmicro, my virus protection says my computer is clean and has no virus's.

Any idea what might be causing this and how to stop it?

I do not have Apple Care so I know something is funny.

Using a MacBook Pro with MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6

I've attached a screen shot of the warning.

It is indeed a scam. There are no viruses for Mac.

Look at the Browser's Address Bar. This is an HTML Document (Web page) --- there's nothing Application about it, so to speak.

You can take your part in assisting others out there to avoid this. Perform the following:

  • First, Clear your temporary Internet files: Use this Link:

Clearing History and Cache - Apple Communities

  • Second, send this screenshot to Apple:

Use this eMail address: reportphishing@apple.com

  • Third and Finally, Scan your Mac for Malware: Malicious Software:

Malware is malicious software that makes your device(MacBook Pro) act in a mislead-manor. Download it Here: MalwareBytes for Mac. Then update MalwareBytes for Mac and run it.
