My new iPhone 11 keeps disconnecting bluetooth devices

My new iPhone 11 keeps disconnecting bluetooth devices (happens both with Bose QC headset and Skoda car Bluetooth)

I did not see this behaviour on an iPhone X running IOS 13 beta.

Anyone having the same problem? Or even better: a solution?

(This question is about iPhone 11, but Apple apparently didn't take the time to update the "What device is this about"... )

SOLUTION

OK! I got Oscar at Apple. He is a big brain and has helped me FIX this!!

Here's the drill.

Connect iPhone 11 Pro to Macbook.

Backup to computer NOT to iCloud.

When backup is complete, restore software on the iPhone AS NEW. At this point do NOT restore data.

Once the phone has new software installed, BEFORE restoring data, on the car, forget the old Bluetooth connection and pair a new connection. Test calls. Mine works now where it was dropping 100% of incoming calls. Outgoing calls work as well.

Then go back to iTunes and restore data from the backup you just did a bit ago.

ENJOY!!!

Cudos to Oscar, Apple customer service wizard! (Previous TWO Apple reps told me there wasn't a problem with the phone, it was my car).

Me too. I have an iPhone 7 with iOS 13.1.2 and Plantronics Voyager Focus UC (B625) Headset.

The Headset is double-paired with my iPhone and work PC. On the phone I listen to Music and Podcasts, on the work PC i do VoIP calls.

Since iOS 13, the volume on the phone gets muted whenever i pause for a few seconds or take off the headset. I then have to turn up the volume manually, else it stays muted on resumed playback. The phone mutes the headphones every few seconds when no audio is being streamed, which manifests in a bluetooth volume bar notification on the left.

About once a week, the iPhone's Ringtone gets boosted to maximum, though i have it muted at all times.

Worst of all however is that the bluetooth connection gets dropped while streaming audio from the phone and i get a call on the PC. It just drops the connection to both the iPhone and PC. The headset then reconnects, first to the phone then to the PC, but this takes so long that i often miss the calls.

This happened in iOS 11 and 12 as well, but only once per week. Now there's a 50-75% chance with every call.

UPDATE: I called (800) MY-IPHONE and they wanted to call me back when I could have my iPhone and the problem device with me. He told me it's probably a problem with the device I'm trying to connect to, which I told him makes no sense since my iPhone 6 works perfectly with it. But anyway I'm hoping that the more calls there are, the more likely it's on their radar.

I have done my homework for Apple.

1) I paired my iPhone 11 Pro Max to my husband’s Mercedes. I made a call. No problem. Finally said thanks to my guinea pig friend after 16 min on the line with no disconnect.

2) I went back to my Toyota Sienna 2017 and had to re-pair it to start off with, again. Then the Bluetooth disconnected my phone from the car 1.5 min into a call.

I had to re-pair the phone. Again.

3) Then, my next homework assignment from Apple was to ignore/forget/disconnect my Versa watch from my phone Bluetooth and see if the call dropped. Yup, next call still dropped in 1 min 27 seconds.

Had to re-pair to phone again.

Just giving the blow by blow.

My next follow-up call from Apple is tomorrow at noon.

Please keep calling Apple everyone.

See, the problem here is that some people think that because it gets fixed for them, or maybe for a while, that the issue has been resolved.

I keep seeing the suggestion that a Restore as New is the ultimate fix. If that were the case, they wouldn't have replaced my first 11 Pro under warranty. It had a fresh install of 13.1.3 in the store and still disconnected from my bluetooth devices immediately. New phone also disconnected after about 5 minutes once I got the phone home from the store.

The steps outlined above about refreshing new, unpairing and forgetting devices, pairing new are all best suggestions, but not a "solution". Only Apple can give a solution.

I'll try to maintain my optimism on 13.2.2 having fixed the issue on my phone, but I've had a good run of stability for hours at a time before, yet it's been over a month of supposed "fixes" and I'm still chasing the dream of stable connectivity.

The problems with bluetooth I face are at least one of the following every single day:

Disconnects at random times

Takes at least 3 attempts to connect

Connecting icon doesn’t go away

Simply doesn’t connect to any device

I always end up going through all settings and it doesn’t matter. iOS update hasn't made a difference. This should not be happening. We are not stuck in 1999, resetting the phone doesn’t fix all of its time problems and even then, that has no logic. From the first day I got this phone there is problems. I just want an iphone model that will last at least a few years before I’m forced to buy the latest because Apple makes them this way. This plan has failed bc it’s been broken from before I got it. My rating for the iPhone 11 Pro is 3/10. I have an iPhones 4, 5c and 6s sitting right next to me all smashed ofc but even they worked better than this. Every day I consider throwing my iPhone 11 pro at a wall. Thinking of using one of those old iPhones for the apple exclusive features, a dslr compact, an MP3 player and and calling it a day.

And to those of you saying that apple has said to change network settings and sometimes it works- you’re just playing with random settings. Bluetooth connection is nothing to do with network.

Have a iPhone 11pro max, same problems with my 2016 4Runner. Multiple calls to Apple and even received a new phone in the store. No improvement. Toyota dealership has rebooted, upgraded and now replaced the OtterBox system. Continued to have dropped calls and radio cuts out after a couple minutes if phone Bluetooth is on. Hating my new phone and seriously considering going back down to the iPhone 8, had no problems with that one. Apple and Toyota really need to get this figured out.

Same problem 2018 4Runner (and on my last-generation airpods) --- Swapped iPhone 11 Pro for a replacement device and the problem persists. Ran through 20hrs+ of troubleshooting, and the problem persists. This included me installing Apple's special bluetooth logging software and letting Apple monitor the phone while I reproduced the error, me wiping the phone several times, turning off cellular data, rolling back the operating system, turning off my apple watch, etc.).

All my other apple devices (including my old iPhone 6s and two ipads) work fine still. Definitely an iPhone 11 incompatibility issue.

I am experiencing this in my Acura MDX 2012 with my iPhone 11 Max and my iWatch Series 4 (GPS + Cellular).

What I found is if I turn off my apple watch the issue goes away. Is there a known fix for this other that shutting off the watch? I've tried putting my phone in airplane mode but that isn't working. One thing I've yet to try but I've read is to turn off Bluetooth on the watch.

Any solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Mine too. I took to apple store. They updated software. Didn’t fix it. I just sat in my car watching the Bluetooth connection screen in settings on my iPhone and watched Bluetooth turn off (the message popped up that explains stuff that won’t work if Bluetooth is turned off) and then just as quickly turned back on. Problem seems to lay on the fact that now time passes while my car, auto echo and my Apple Watch reconnects. My phone is less than 1 month in my hands and did this from day 1.
