My monthly challenges have disappeared from the Activity app

All the monthly challenge badges that I have complete so far this year have disappeared, as well as my current month’s progress, and one of the special challenge badges. All my workouts are still showing up though so an Apple store employee directed me here. Has that happened to anyone else? iPhone 11 Pro, iOS 13.

Having just updated to IOS 13.2.2 on my iPhone 11 Pro Max, I now see all my Award badges etc.

While the phone was updating, I turned my Apple Watch (4th Gen) off.

Once the update was done (Watch still off) I checked the Awards and found they had reappeared.

I then turned the watch back on.

All done

Lbabygirlrun: Weird things like that happened last week when I set up my iPhone 11 too. It seemed to take a few hours for activity data to sync into new phone. if it hasn’t sorted itself out by now, do you still have your old phone (with activity data on it? If so, I would unpair watch from new phone, repair to old phone do a manual iCloud back-up then try the whole process again. Do be aware, however that doing this in the middle of a day can muck up that day’s data. try to do this either after you complete your rings for the day or before you start. Hope you retrieve your info! Good Luck

So, what I was finally able to do was to do a hard reset of my new phone and then restore my new phone from my old phone instead of from the cloud. It gave me back all the challenges that were still on the old phone. The only exceptions were that it dropped off about half of my 200% awards but everything else was there. I know that doesn’t help those of you who’ve already sent back your old phone, but someone coming across this problem now could try this 😉

This worked for me!

After multiple phone calls and chats with Apple support, I finally talked with someone who knew what they were doing/talking about.  My monthly challenges are now on my new device.

Old device=iPhone 6S Plus

New device=iPhone11 Pro Max

Here are the steps I took to get my monthly challenges to merge/sync to my new device.  This assumes you still have your old device.

1. Unpair apple watch from new device

2. Pair watch with old device

3. Unpair watch from old device.  This creates a backup to use in a future step.

4. Backup old device to iTunes.

5. Restore backup from step 4 to new device.  I didn’t wipe/reset to factory prior to the restore.

6. Pair apple watch to new device

After trying many different things over the last week, this worked for me.  I can’t promise it will work for you, but you may want to try this.

It happened to me too on my new iPhone 11. Everything came back on the start of the new month. Unfortunately that was 10 days from the time I transferred everything. I had to manually keep track of my monthly goal as to make sure I hit it but all my badges came back on Oct 1st with my new monthly challenge as well as the badge for Sept 2018 and on. They will come back just not until Nov 1st. Unless they get a fix before then.

It seems like the issue might be with the watch. I did the same as you, backed up my phone on the morning of upgrading, then restored from that backup. All my monthly challenges were gone, as well as two of the three special challenges badges I had earned. Since then, one of these reappeared, but none of the monthly challenges. I chatted with support last night, and the associate implied that I should have backed up and unpaired my watch (in addition to the phone) prior to returning my old phone; and I should have restored the watch from its own backup. I hadn’t done that, nor did I know that’s necessary, but I did have trouble re-pairing my watch to the new phone and in the end I think I paired it as a new Apple Watch. It’s really disappointing that something that simple can erase progress that we’ve been working on all year. I’m still not fully satisfied with the associate’s answer because all my activity transferred from the iPhone backup, just not the challenges. Why would the challenges be only stored on the watch? Doesn’t make sense. So part of me still hopes they’ll come back...

I am also having this same issue. I opened a support ticket with Apple, but so far no solution. I would recommend anyone who hasn't to give Apple Support a call and report the issue. It never hurts to get more eyes on it.

Also, I asked if I restored to an iTunes backup (done before trading in my old phone) would it try to merge my activity data from that backup and everything earned since then. Basically pulling down the activity data from iCloud for the missing days. They said that I would lose everything since the iTunes backup and that activity data is stored locally. Only health data like weight and things like that are synced with iCloud. That doesn't sound encouraging for getting the badges back, but still hoping for a fix.

For reference this is the info from my situation.

Both restored from iCloud backup and both missing only the Monthly challenge badges.

I have the same problem too. I switched to a new iPhone 11 Pro Max from an XS Max and an Apple Watch Series 4 to a Series 5. I configured the devices as new without going through backups as I have always done with previous versions of iOS.

All the medals are back except those of the monthly challenges of end 2018 and all those of 2019 (I had won 7 of 8).

But I found a strange thing that I ask you to verify:

1. Go to "Settings on iPhone

2. Go to the "Health" section

3. Go to "Data and Devices": here all the Apple Watch and all the Apps you have used with the "Health" App will appear. The strange thing is here. The Apple Watch Series 5 I use now is called "Apple Watch Series 5" (I renamed myself from the "Watch" App) but it results without any data, as if it were not even connected with iPhone.

4. Another Apple Watch in the list named "Apple Watch of Francesco" (it is the default name that is given during the first synchronization) is "No longer matched with iPhone" but in reality it is this that receives the data and populates the list activities.

5. I state that this happens even if I rename the current Watch in "Apple Watch di Francesco" as default. Simply in this case we will have two watches with the same name in the list with the same problem.

I think the problem is here and I don't know how to solve it. I tried again to unpair and pair the Watch again but this does nothing but add an old source.

Can you tell me if it happens to you too ???

Thanks

Oh, apparently it’s gonna be the lot of all the new owners then. Try un pairing and repairing, that had brought my competition badges back. And then if the challenges badges don’t come back at that point you’re going to have to wait for November 1st with the new monthly challenge and then the everything’s gonna come back.

For the October’s challenge it’s gonna be trickier because personally I believe that I crushed my September challenge... and still received nothing! Other users did get their challenge badge, so it’s out of your hands for this one.

Best if luck anyway! ;)
