My monthly challenges have disappeared from the Activity app

All the monthly challenge badges that I have complete so far this year have disappeared, as well as my current month’s progress, and one of the special challenge badges. All my workouts are still showing up though so an Apple store employee directed me here. Has that happened to anyone else? iPhone 11 Pro, iOS 13.

So annoyed, just swapped from my iPhone 8 Plus to iPhone 11, created a backup prior to setting my new phone up to make sure I wouldn’t lose any data and upon setup of my iPhone 11 I have lost all my monthly challenges apart from June and August 2019 (I had every single one) and my September challenge which was near completion is also now gone!! I got my Apple Watch series 4 in December 2018. Ive also noticed upon comparison with my iPhone 8 Plus that some of the ‘workout’ badges display different ‘bests’ (the record is shown for differing amounts of calories on my new device, almost as though not all my workouts synced properly, further, both phones display different amount of move goal (200%, 300% and 400%) badges. I’m very confused and annoyed and I hope this gets fixed as I loved the awards page!!!!

I would like to add my “me too” to this thread. I upgraded my phone from an IPhone 7plus to the iPhone 11 on Tuesday and have the series 3 watch on iOS 13 and I lost all my monthly challenges from Oct 2018 and on and I had every month this year so far. Also all my progress for this months monthly challenge of 13.42km a day are gone too and I would have met that challenge to by end of day tomorrow.

I really hope they come up with a fix soon. Some people work extremely hard to meet those challenges and for it to all go down the drain super frustrating. No matter how many times I restart my devices they just dont come back. 🤬

This worked for me!

After multiple phone calls and chats with Apple support, I finally talked with someone who knew what they were doing/talking about.  My monthly challenges are now on my new device.

Old device=iPhone 6S Plus

New device=iPhone11 Pro Max

Here are the steps I took to get my monthly challenges to merge/sync to my new device.  This assumes you still have your old device.

1. Unpair apple watch from new device

2. Pair watch with old device

3. Unpair watch from old device.  This creates a backup to use in a future step.

4. Backup old device to iTunes.

5. Restore backup from step 4 to new device.  I didn’t wipe/reset to factory prior to the restore.

6. Pair apple watch to new device

After trying many different things over the last week, this worked for me.  I can’t promise it will work for you, but you may want to try this.

Many thanks FiremanJig for posting a solution that should work for some people.

Sadly not me! I made the same assumption as SILVAFOXX and thought it was all in the cloud. In addition, I did wait to wipe my old phone but as it looked like all the activity data was slowly appearing I thought it was safe to do so. Lesson learned.

Also to mention to save anyone time - I happened to have my old phone and watch still so I put old backups on those and then tried to follow FiremanJig’s solution, but no luck. It seems like as the backup hasn’t got the challenge data in there, it doesn’t resurface if you try to go back to the setup you had before.

Still annoyed, like others I had every challenge this year so far. But I can’t see any chance of getting it back so just have to move on.

I am also having this same issue. I opened a support ticket with Apple, but so far no solution. I would recommend anyone who hasn't to give Apple Support a call and report the issue. It never hurts to get more eyes on it.

Also, I asked if I restored to an iTunes backup (done before trading in my old phone) would it try to merge my activity data from that backup and everything earned since then. Basically pulling down the activity data from iCloud for the missing days. They said that I would lose everything since the iTunes backup and that activity data is stored locally. Only health data like weight and things like that are synced with iCloud. That doesn't sound encouraging for getting the badges back, but still hoping for a fix.

For reference this is the info from my situation.

iPhone 8 Plus to iPhone 11 Pro Max with Series 3 watch

iPhone 8 Plus to iPhone 11 Pro with Series 3 watch

Both restored from iCloud backup and both missing only the Monthly challenge badges.

Same I wasn’t on any of the betas, when I was setting up my iPhone 11 I received a push notification asking me if I wanted to link my watch to the phone so I opted for yes, presuming that it would sync all of the data. I’m not sure if this would have played a role in the challenge data not fully syncing, did anyone else follow the same procedure?

I have the same problem too. I switched to a new iPhone 11 Pro Max from an XS Max and an Apple Watch Series 4 to a Series 5. I configured the devices as new without going through backups as I have always done with previous versions of iOS.

All the medals are back except those of the monthly challenges of end 2018 and all those of 2019 (I had won 7 of 8).

But I found a strange thing that I ask you to verify:

1. Go to "Settings on iPhone

2. Go to the "Health" section

3. Go to "Data and Devices": here all the Apple Watch and all the Apps you have used with the "Health" App will appear. The strange thing is here. The Apple Watch Series 5 I use now is called "Apple Watch Series 5" (I renamed myself from the "Watch" App) but it results without any data, as if it were not even connected with iPhone.

4. Another Apple Watch in the list named "Apple Watch of Francesco" (it is the default name that is given during the first synchronization) is "No longer matched with iPhone" but in reality it is this that receives the data and populates the list activities.

5. I state that this happens even if I rename the current Watch in "Apple Watch di Francesco" as default. Simply in this case we will have two watches with the same name in the list with the same problem.

I think the problem is here and I don't know how to solve it. I tried again to unpick and match the Watch again but this does nothing but add an old source.

Can you tell me if it happens to you too ???

Thanks
