I have an iPhone 11 that I connect to my 2013 Nissan through a Lightning to USB connection. When listening to any audio through this (iTunes, Podcasts, YouTube), the sound is heavily distorted. Sounds like interference.
If, however, I connect my old iPhone, or an iPod, through this connection first, then immediately switch out to the iPhone 11, everything sounds great.
How can I fix this?

Good news! The latest 13.1 update completely fixed this issue.
I have a 2014 Nissan and am having the same problem. I called Apple a few minutes ago and they suspect I need a software update in my car from the dealer.
I went into Apple store and that what the person helping me out says too. But testing on iPhone XR with iOS 13 works fine. It is definitely not on our end. They need to fix this with iOS 13.1

I agree. If I plug the iPhone 11 in first, all other devices sound the same. So I think the phone is corrupting things. Hope we get a fix soon. This is annoying
