Turn off Apple Music playlist on iPhone running iOS 12.4.1 so it does not auto play when connected to Bluetooth. All I can do is pause a song from playing. If I am in car and using Bluetooth for map directions the music starts playing.

If I am listening to a playlist in Apple Music on my iPhone running iOS 12.4.1 on iPhone 8, all I can do is pause a song. As far as I can tell I cannot stop the playlist from being cued to play. Whenever I am connected to Bluetooth in car to get directions from the Map app. The music starts playing automatically. I’ve tried resetting Music on phone by double clicking home button and swiping Mdic app up to reset it. Playlist is still there ready to play. I’ve tried turning off phone and restarting, playlist is still there ready to play. There must be a better way than doing a full phone reset. Thank you for any help.

A full reset wouldn’t change the behavior. Connecting Bluetooth speakers initiates this behavior, and I don’t think there is an off switch in iOS 12.x. The car audio system, earbuds, headphones, room speaker, any of those will trigger it, if they support bluetooth.

You can pause the Now Playing track. You can turn off bluetooth. You can ask Siri to stop Music.
