wifi issues with Iphone 11 Pro Max

Hi! I dont know what is happening with the new iphone 11 ( as I have other iphones updated and there is nor issue with them) but as I connect to the wifi ( 802.1x protocol), after a certain time the conection is lost. There is wifi icon on the iphone but there is no conecction ( no ping....). After turn on off the plane mode, is working after certain time again...same thing. With other iphone 10 with ios 13 no issues.... so I think that the problem is with the iphone 11 hardware or something new on the iphone.... some one the same problem???? thanks in advance!!

Dear PJAckson76,

I would return to the place you got your phone first: mine was Verizon and even Apple support will tell you there are bad production lots of the iPhone 11 Pro there. If you have a good relationship with them there and can get all your data copied to a new version of the phone I would do that.

If Verizon is not the option, backup your iPhone 11 Pro with iMazing on the laptop/desktop of your choice and then go to the local Apple store. Ask them to run the typical diagnostics tests on your iPhone and then run the DFU(when running DFU, all data will be wiped, so be prepared). If they still find no problems; still ask them to replace the phone entirely with a new one. They will honor this because they know they need to do so. There are bad production lots out there.

When you get the new phone, have them run all the tests on the new phone and if it checks out ok, take it home and test it on your Wi-Fi first *** BEFORE *** restoring you data to it from iMazing. If the Speedtest results give you what you need you are all set to go ahead and restore from iMazing and test again.

If your results are still inconsistent and short of your expectations, it is time to change your router settings. Come back on this site and provide a router and model number and I will provide some tips which may help your situation.

I wish you luck with this, I know how irritating it can be.....but, the above process has solved this for me.

This why the iPhone 11 Pro Max/11. Have terrible connectivity. It’s the modems. The iPhone X was the last iPhone to use Qualcomm’s modems, the speeds were incredible when I own my iPhone X . Recently I got the iPhone 11 Pro Max. I recommend to keep your iPhone X. The speeds are terrible my iPhone X gets around 600 MPBS on WiFi. Mean while my iPhone 11 Pro Max got a result of 80 MPBS. You will also constantly have issues with Bluetooth with the iPhone 11 Pro Max. It will constantly drop signal if you move too quick. I use beats solo pro with the iPhone . This issue did not occur with the iPhone X. Also keep in mind. The iPhone XS/XS Max/XR have the same issues. Last iPhones with Qualcomm’s modems: iPhone 8/ 8 Plus/ X. Keep your money. Until Apple decides to use Qualcomm’s modems, or go with Samsung they got 5G.

I've this issue ever since I got my iPhone 11 Pro. This is actually my second device with this issue.

I've found that this issue occurs frequently using the 5Ghz band.

The best wifi standard my router supports is 802.11n.

I have different SSIDs for both this band and the 2.4 one.

I've tried all sorts of resets but nothing helps. This is absolutely ridiculous for their flagship product.

I contacted support and they are aware of this issue.

The rep claimed it doesn't affect all devices, yet this is my second device with this issue.

After having to contact support 3 different times, I sent it in for repair but I just received an email saying they couldn't process my repair request... for a known issue. Let's see what they have to say in the letter.

I can honestly say that I have never felt this ripped off by a purchase. I don't have the words to explain how frustrating this entire experience has been. Someone needs to start a class action lawsuit. There is no reasonable explanation why a core feature like wifi should be broken on a $1500 flagship device.

Absolutely ridiculous, Apple!

I have just updated to 13.2.3 and the wifi connection problem still persists. I am using Google wifi 3 (mesh points) and all my other devices work perfectly fine except my iphone 11 Pro Max.

I had to keep toggle On and Off the plane mode to get a very short re-connection back on wifi. The problem is more obvious when watching Youtube videos. You cannot see the entire video without it stopping a few times.

I believe it could also be a weak antenna problem because if I bring my phone right next to the router, the signal is immediately improved and Youtube can be played smoothly without stopping.

Solution is desperately needed from Apple!

Yes. It seems to start fine. Then upon sleep or continued use when you go do another task that doesn’t require Wi-Fi , then back to internet it crashes. Especially the up feed. I’ve tried everything. Spent hours with apple. Sent them diagnostics but no answers or acknowledgment so far. Perhaps most people don’t take advantage of the 5 ghz network to make it a real urgent problem for them to fix. Someone needs to get to Tim Cook !!!! Definitely not my router or the software as it works on all other Mac devices and iPads. Just not iPhone 11 modem. APPLE LETS GET IT TOGETHER ITS BEEN THREE MONTHS

Well as many times as I posted, problem still persists. I've done all. Reset, turned bluetooth off, powered off phone (which did actually help for a little bit of time), but ultimately you walk 15 feet away from 5 Ghz and it coughs, comes to screeching halt! I've moved around routers, access points, but tested on multiple iPhone 11 Pro max and ALL HAVE THE SAME ISSUES. Even in other cities and routers. Apple get it together! - no response means an issue I believe, going to Genius Bar to go on record that phone sucks on fast speed networks......

Dear drewt1,

Thanks for you response. It is always good to get these discussion platforms started with people who are good communicators.

No, I don't work for Apple. I am a computer science engineer with both hardware and software background and design a lot of larger solutions for companies but, have an eternal interest in problem solving so when I am not working on correcting 90% of the Windows/Wi-Fi world, I am building air-tight systems with Linux, Apple and a host of a few other networking platforms which require zero maintenance with all the security that a legal firm may require. I also manage IT at a director level.

Sorry you don't like the Linksys products. I don't promote all of them but, since Belkin bought Linksys away from Cisco, the quality on a majority of the products has stayed the same.

I am interested; I am in Ohio and I was wondering what market you bought your Luxul from? And I didn't notice, which iPhone.....I only ask because I asked people with the iPhone X to also respond to this as well. Is yours the iPhone 11 Pro Max or another model?

I also deal with Apple Business support channels because I am a consultant so, I often guide/input Apple on problems and escalate concerns through 3 separate paths at Apple.

As of now I know that Apple recognizes the Wi-Fi band shifting (as noted before) and there is another issue with interference with Location Services which is getting much "separation" attention in the upcoming 13.3.1.

Will keep you informed when I learn more. :)

The dual band Luxul ac3100 router was bought from the corporate division of Best Buy. Allegedly Luxul built routers for the military and very very secure coroporate structures from what I was told about two years ago. The linksys router I was previously using was constantly getting ping'd, and the unit was shutting of the internet from the intrusion with it's DOS (denial of service). Changing Ip's from Comcast, everything was tried until I saw that the Lynksys company was indeed hacked itself. I have five children and one high use gamer in the household. Once I threw out the Lynksys product and installed the Luxul system, all the issues stopped as Luxul gives you many more options to prevent outside intrusions.

I am a musician by trade and a music producer, so I too am into wireless electronic design and systems for the music industry.

There were 3 iPhone 10's in the house previously which had no issues. It's only when we upgraded to the 11 Pro max's that we noticed the internet issues while ONLY on 5 ghz bands. I have simulated the problem in multiple cities, multiples ISP's, and multiple types of routers.

My experience with the 11 pro max has been while on a 5 ghz network, the phone may work for a short time, varying from a few minutes to 10, but then suddenly looses the ability to upload at any speed, thus causing the internet to come to a screeching halt. Sometimes it's from moving around the house, moving away from the router. I have even disabled the access point and while within 20 feet of the home router (Luxul xor-3150), the issues recreates. Maybe cause it switched to the 2.4 but still within 5 ghz range. Perhaps the antenna hardware is itself is fault on the modem or it's the software switching issue.

My frustration has been with level 2 and 3 apple support and care, they act as if nothing is wrong, nor ever seem to get back to me about further diagnosing the situation. I have sent them multiple logs as they installed the diagnostic tool on my phone. My assumption is that not enough of the public utilizes the 5 ghz network for them to notice the fault. They even don't like to acknowledge these user forums. I only found consolation in the forums that I'm not crazy alone!!!!!....lol.....And reality $1200 later and five months after initial release there should be a fix. When the phone is on the 5 network for the brief moments, it's amazingly quick! My average download speed is 355 down, 23 up on 5 ghz, on 2.4 a more modest 45 down and 20 up.

Thank you for your willingness to respond and help.

It’s a hardware problem. Apple procured an Intel chip for connectivity on the 11. It has interference problem with the Bluetooth and also with the cellular. It’s not as good and does not perform as well in all ways of connecting.

Apple will not be able to fix the problem because they messed up on the design. The only hope is the next generation possibly Internal fixes their chips or they switch to another vendor.
