iPhone 11 on iOS 13 having Bluetooth connectivity issues

New iPhone 11 on iOS 13 is having Bluetooth connectivity issues.

both my daughter and I are having the similar issues.

daughters phone is an 11 64GB Purple.

mine is an 11 128GB White

Hers gets connected to her 2018 Toyota C-HR and constantly drops out. Her iPhone 7 Plus never had any issues.

I have mine connected to a Boss BT module on my motorcycle. Never had any issues with my iPhone X.

neither of our other phones we’re running iOS 13.

I updated to 13.1.2 It looks like "MOST" of my issues have been fixed with this latest update. My 2012 Scion xB stock stereo is now not dropping or getting garbled calls. My iFrogz headphones are now staying connected when paused in Pandora.

The only remaining bug(s) I'm seeing are:

  1. Hey Siri is somewhat spotty. Like the phone isn't hearing me sometimes. Very random.
  2. When placing a call via Hey Siri in my car, the bluetooth connection between my iphone 11 and my scion xB, will connect/disconnect several times before the dialing sound starts. Once the dialing starts, it stays connected.

So I've borrowed my friend's 2019 BMW X3 and his Galaxy S10 to test the BT connections. The pairing process went as expected, except one thing. There was an additional step of verifying and confirming the matching pairing passcode (passkey) displayed on my iphone 11 and the audio display on X3. This didn't happened on my 2018 Toyota Highlander when pairing my iphone with it. But then when I paired S10 with my Highlander, the passcode (passkey) matching step was also there.

Have you guys noticed this extra step when pairing your iphone with the car audio system? I think missing this step is the cause of the BT link getting disconnected during the phone calls with my Highlander. By the way, the BT link dropping issuef during phone calls didn't happen on my friend X3 and my iphone11.

Just to confirm as with others...iPhone 11 Pro Max even with 13.1.2 updates still has multiple issues with bluetooth connectivity. While it connects to a Range Rover Velar, the call is dropped back to the phone intermittently and is not sustainable. Phonak hearing aids allow for a connection but render skipping and inaudible sound as well as dropping the connection. The iPhone Max XS has no problem with either of these two devices even though it is upgraded to 13.1.2.

This is pretty ridiculous and needs a fix before the iPhone goes back to Verizon. No connectivity issues experienced with Samsung Galaxy Note 10 on either device. I am thinking of abandoning the iPhone and just moving to the Galaxy products for EDC. Apple seems to be behind the curve on most smartphone advances these days anyway. What they often call revelations in their marketing pieces are old news for Samsung and have been deployed two or three years ago. Fixes like this on a better than $1000 phone should not be necessary.

Was on the phone with Apple support yesterday for over an hour trying to solve my bluetooth issues with my Porsche. They took time stamps and bluetooth logs from my phone. They were unable to solve my problem and they think it will most likely take a new software upgrade form apple to fix this issue. I may need to return my phone and go back to my old iphone 6 in the meantime as the lack of bluetooth is a deal killer for a phone to use while driving. My daughter has an Audi and she has the same bluetooth disconnects with her Iphone 11 pro as well.

VictoriaYoung, I also have a RR Evoque.

Today I tested it with a Huawei P20 lite. Everything was perfect again...

So the problem is with iOS13 (even 13.1.2).

It's a software problem because my iPhone 7 was working fine before the update to iOS13.

Let's wait for the final version of 13.2. It that doesn't correct the problem, then it's time to get a Samsung or Huawei...

guys, as this seems a major problem on iPhone 11, also I have same problem, Bluetooth on carkits is not working properly for music, sound plays but it skips/cracks every like 1 minute as if its connecting/disconnecting or some sort of interference, I suggest to post also on twitter & put @applesupport, usually they reply, I hope its only software issue not hardware

So I have a 2016 Tundra and I have the iPhone 11 pro max (I’m running the latest software, 13.1.2). As soon as I got the new iPhone 11 pro max, my engine plus head unit would reboot every 3 minutes. I took it Toyota and they did a flash software update. Didn’t fix it. I took it back and they replaced the head unit. Didn’t fix it. Next they want to add some Bluetooth tuner box thing (not exactly sure what it is). Anyways, I finally decided to pair my boyfriends phone (same phone and software) and his phone didn’t reboot the system. So I finally realized it was the phone. I went to Apple and they had me reset the phone as new (annoying, I know). So I did. I can now stream music in the car without rebooting the system. So it partially worked. However, today when I tried to make a call, it kept disconnecting. I had to restart the car to get it to reconnect. I was also unable to even get my phone to connect to the Acura. It couldn’t even find my phone. For some reason it can find my boyfriends phone though, so I have no idea.

I hope some of that helps.

I can confirm that I experience the same issue of low BT volume when taking a phone call on my AirPods. This is not just a “car” Bluetooth issue but rather an issue across any Bluetooth device. I have also experienced “disconnects” in my car, my soundbar and my AirPods.

To resolve the low volume issue while on a call without disconnecting, the “physical” volume up and volume button does nothing, so I have to go to settings, sounds and haptics and then adjust the volume level bar by sliding to the left and back to max volume in the ringer and alerts section.

It is an iPhone 11 problem, period.

12 days after I bought the iPhone 11 which was running 13.1.2 and having huge Bluetooth connectivity issues, I returned it to the Apple Store and went (back) to an iPhone Xr. It is running 13.1.2. After trying it extensively today on every Bluetooth device where I had an issue it has performed flawlessly. No problems at all. The Apple Car Play in my BMW works great, my ear buds work great, all my Bluetooth speakers work great and my bicycle smart trainer controlled by Bluetooth works great.

Blaming this on the Bluetooth devices is very misguided.

I do not understand WHY people still believe it depends on a specific iPhone. It does NOT as you can see when you follow this thread. It concerns almost all iPhones (look e. g. also here: https://www.gps-rlink.com/2019/09/25/r-link-2-bluetooth-problem-with-apple-ios13/) when running iOS 13.x.x. .... May be you should check your "older" phones and look which iOS is running there... therefore again: I use an iPhone 8, no problems at all before, but massive BT problems since iOS 13 .... I truly hope that Apple is working on it... and not pushing it away with arrogance... that doesn't pay off... I remember a famous brand from Finnland days ago... they got killed by their ignorance and arrogance...

This has happened before with previous iPhones. Faulty initial firmware, gets fixed with an update after a few weeks. All the early adopters get screwed in the meantime. Having no Bluetooth for a month while waiting for a fix is definitely a first world problem though.

Just keep giving them **** and they'll eventually get it fixed. But don't waste your time swapping out for a new phone or trying to fix it yourself. It won't help. Just be patient and keep hammering Apple until they fix it.

I just saw an email that someone posted bones8d "Upgraded to iOS 13.2 beta 3. Haven’t had any Bluetooth issues today.

Multiple phone calls at different time lengths in a 2019 Toyota Tacoma.

All contacts set to sync as normal and playing music. Not one hiccup.

Stock radio also acting normal as it was resetting

previously on its own. Also no other issues outside Bluetooth with my

iPhone 11 Pro with the beta os."

I can't find this post now but anyone else seeing promising results with the 13.2 beta 3 ios?? I'm just trying to figure out where Apple is at with a fix for the ones that still have connection issues for calls.

-My last update to 13.1.3 and did a full restore to original then loaded backup but problem still persists

-Earlier on in this mess Apple engineers called me and had me install a custom BT profile to which they took the data but I have since to hear back from them.

-My cheap BT headsets from amazon work (newer within the last 2 yrs) and my pandora music and Apple watch no issues but my car's headunit which is an older 2014 Kenwood DN991HD headunit and it does not maintain connection fr BT when I get a call it will connect and disconnect every few seconds.

Hoping there's a fix soon sigh! Frustrating

Cautiously optimistic the update to 13.2 helped. I have been using my phone today with no more signal degradation than I would normally experience...which is to say very little and infrequent. I'm hoping it's repeatable. I'll know more by end of today since I use my iphone with gen 1 AirPods pretty much all day for work. Not too excited yet since others are reporting their troubles persist even after updating to 13.2, but so far so good today.
