iPhone 11 on iOS 13 having Bluetooth connectivity issues

New iPhone 11 on iOS 13 is having Bluetooth connectivity issues.

both my daughter and I are having the similar issues.

daughters phone is an 11 64GB Purple.

mine is an 11 128GB White

Hers gets connected to her 2018 Toyota C-HR and constantly drops out. Her iPhone 7 Plus never had any issues.

I have mine connected to a Boss BT module on my motorcycle. Never had any issues with my iPhone X.

neither of our other phones we’re running iOS 13.

I updated to 13.1.2 It looks like "MOST" of my issues have been fixed with this latest update. My 2012 Scion xB stock stereo is now not dropping or getting garbled calls. My iFrogz headphones are now staying connected when paused in Pandora.

The only remaining bug(s) I'm seeing are:

  1. Hey Siri is somewhat spotty. Like the phone isn't hearing me sometimes. Very random.
  2. When placing a call via Hey Siri in my car, the bluetooth connection between my iphone 11 and my scion xB, will connect/disconnect several times before the dialing sound starts. Once the dialing starts, it stays connected.

APPLE SUPPORT PLEASE READ THIS POST!

Based on some of the reports in here I tried something new this morning and my phone has worked perfectly connecting to my Bluetooth UConnect system in the car on 6 straight attempts. Before I would be lucky if I went 1 for 6. I left my Apple Watch off today and disconnected from my phone. Happy to report that as soon as I get in the car it's instant connection. The connection to the Apple Watch was definitely preventing my car from connecting to my phone. So now I am spending my day without my Apple Watch to see if it continues to connect successfully. If it goes all day without problems there is definitely a software issue when connecting to certain vehicle Bluetooth systems while having an Apple Watch connected at the same time. Guess I will be giving up my Apple Watch until this is resolved. Glad I didn't rush out and buy that series 5 I wanted.

Translation of 'degekste's post:

"Because I'm not very good in English I would like to ask you to translate something. This is a way to let bluetooth work on your car kit. The only thing is that you have to follow this procedure every time you enter your vehicle. Make sure that before you enter your bluetooth is fully off (via settings). Get in and put your carkit on. Thereafter you start your bluetooth connection. This way it stays connected. Maybe this a (temporary) solution for other devices as well."

Today, after upgrading to iOS 13.1.2 on my older iPhone SE, the telephone activity memory for Recent Calls, Missed Calls, and Received Calls was not showing on the Bluetooth connected hands-free screens on my Audi. Spending quality time on a Apple Support Chat line, the suggestion to re-pair the phone to the car was offered. Following a choice to "Forget this device" on both the car and the phone, and then going through the re-pairing process, the helpful phone call information was again available - after several minutes of download to the car's MMI.

Lesson offered it: disconnect, close and re-start the phone, then forget the device, and then re-pair the phone and the car from fresh..

Hello everyone, issue of Bluetooth, on my iPhone 11 I had the issue of music skipping /disconnecting in my car kit

now what I found was the issue that the watch which was creating this interference, as when I turned the watch off everything was smooth, finally what I found was that my watch was running os 5, when I updated to Watch is 6, now everything is smooth no interruptions at all

also do complete reset for settings and restart the phone , this worked for me on iPhone 11 running iOS 13.1.2

Well, thought I had the issue 'fixed' but yesterday I was listening to an audiobook in my 4runner. I was post MTB ride and noted that I hadn't re-synced my garmin 935 to the new phone yet, wanting to get my tracked ride uploaded I attempted to sync the watch. Audiobook cut out as soon as I tried to connect the watch. I forgot the device and hit play on the head unit, audio came back and stayed solid on the ride home.

For me at least syncing multiple BT devices to the phone seems to be the trigger.

Same issue with my new iPhone 11. I noticed that it would disconnect from car around 30 seconds into a call. It wouldn’t disconnect the call, just disconnected from the car. I believe it was the auto lock. I went into settings and changed the lock screen to NEVER. That seemed to fix it. You can still put it to sleep with the side button so it doesn’t drain the battery.

I just recently converted to an iPhone 11 Pro from a 6S, and am frustrated as are many because everything was flawless on my 6S, as well as on my iPad mini 4. The iPad still works fine with no issues even after iOS 13.1.3 upgrade. I have not had issues connecting to my Chevrolet vehicles, but I have had the same problem with several 3rd party Bluetooth items, my most annoying was my Sony MDR-XB950N1 headset. I finally found the solution after a week of troubleshooting. The fix for mine was:

If you are using a third party Bluetooth accessory such as Jaybirds and are having trouble establishing the Bluetooth connection, you may not be alone.

Please follow the sequence of steps to help pair the device

  1. Power off the external headsets
  2. Turn off Bluetooth in the iPhone settings
  3. Turn Bluetooth back on in the iPhone settings
  4. Hold the power button ON, on the Jaybirds, and CONTINUE holding it on, even after the buds tell you the status; “Power On, xx% charged”…
  5. Within a few seconds, Your iPhone Bluetooth screen should “discover” the earbuds.
  6. You can release the Power Button on your Jaybirds

The same steps should work for other models such as your JBL Flip. The key is to keep pressing the ON or the Start button until the iPhone discovers your device.

I hope this helps some with their connection issues.

The just released iOS 13.1.3 update seems to have fixed the connection to the Plantronics Edge headset.

I just updated to iOS 13.1.3 seeing that there were two Bluetooth "fixes" included, and unfortunately there is no change with my Plantronics Edge headset. It started getting cracking sounds and then disconnected right about 30 seconds into the call.

I do want to note that I have had zero issues with the connection in my car, a 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with standard radio with Uconnect. I have streamed music/audio for nearly 9 hours straight with a number of 10-30 minute calls mixed in without a hiccup. I'm now afraid that this 13.1.3 may have messed that up in which case I will restore back to 13.1.2.

I should also note that I was contacted via email on October 9 by Apple Bluetooth Engineering in regards to what I had posted in this thread and that updating to 13.1.2 did not resolve the issue. I replied with an extremely detailed analysis of what is going wrong with my iPhone 11 Pro Max 256GB as compared to my prior iPhone 7 Plus 256GB that never had a single Bluetooth issue with any device.

As it appears right now the issue with my Plantronics Voyager Edge [PLT-Edge] disconnecting after 30 seconds on a call has been resolved with iOS 13.2. I did nothing more than update the iOS version, I did not re-pair the device. I was able to make a 28 minute phone today without a single disconnect nor any other issues, just like it used to be on my 7 Plus!

I hope others can find relief in this new version!!

I know this is any annoying fix, but I reset my phone as new (not from a back-up) and everything works perfectly with my Tundra now. If you back everything up to iCloud (pictures, messages, etc.), then all you will have to do is redownload your apps, sign in to everything, and reset up your settings. Again, I know this is an annoying process (I had to do it 5 separate times), but it did provide a solution. There was a corruption in my back-up.

Good luck!

Steelduck, I am having same stuttering issue on all my headphone devices (but not car or BT stereo). I have a Pro Max though (and my daughter's iPhone 11 does not have issue, so opposite of yours!).

I have made following observation (other than its driving me nuts and Apple has been less than helpful):

For me, issue seems to happen mostly in my car where I have the Phone connected to Audi BT. Seems Headphone BT and Car BT are different BT protocols or something (note that headphone only shows up in BT on upper right of iPhone screen when using a headphone, but not a car or a speaker).

I noticed that (unlike the 11 and earlier iPhones), even when using headphones (but car BT on), the Audi display shows what is playing on iPhone (but actually sounds is through headphones). So somehow, the BT is still connected in some way to Car. I noticed that if I turn the car off when listening to BT on Headphones, the audio on the Headphones shuts off (even though in theory it should not since connected to Headphones).

So, i think part of the issue is the BT is confused and trying every once in a while tries to re-connect audio to the Car BT (which might be first in line in the protocol or something?). When it tries to connect (while on Headphone), it quickly stutters/chirps and loses sound, but then comes back to sound on headphone.

So, I turned off my car BT yesterday and boom, I did not get the stutter on my headphones. I must admit I once in a great while get the stutter while wearing in the house (and nothing BT trying to connect to), but very infrequent.

So maybe you can try same fix (although not a fix, just a workaround until Apple actually fixes it). See if you have any other BT device (non headphones) that are "connected" or in range to be connected and turn them off and see if that fixes the chirp as it did for me. Who knows.

As an aside, Apple had sent me a Bluetooth Profile so they could then log my BT issues and they uploaded log last week. I spoke with a Sr. Tech for at least an hour last week. Called them yesterday to report my new findings on the Car, etc., and new Sr. Tech said he saw NOTHING in my account about the issue or any call with other tech or even the BT log I sent them. So, yeah. Bad. I just hung up since why spend all this time with them when it seems to go nowhere.
