iPhone 11 on iOS 13 having Bluetooth connectivity issues

New iPhone 11 on iOS 13 is having Bluetooth connectivity issues.

both my daughter and I are having the similar issues.

daughters phone is an 11 64GB Purple.

mine is an 11 128GB White

Hers gets connected to her 2018 Toyota C-HR and constantly drops out. Her iPhone 7 Plus never had any issues.

I have mine connected to a Boss BT module on my motorcycle. Never had any issues with my iPhone X.

neither of our other phones we’re running iOS 13.

I updated to 13.1.2 It looks like "MOST" of my issues have been fixed with this latest update. My 2012 Scion xB stock stereo is now not dropping or getting garbled calls. My iFrogz headphones are now staying connected when paused in Pandora.

The only remaining bug(s) I'm seeing are:

  1. Hey Siri is somewhat spotty. Like the phone isn't hearing me sometimes. Very random.
  2. When placing a call via Hey Siri in my car, the bluetooth connection between my iphone 11 and my scion xB, will connect/disconnect several times before the dialing sound starts. Once the dialing starts, it stays connected.

Dear William,

let me give you some more details, maybe you stop blindly defending Apple then.

I own 2 iPhones, a work-provided iPhone 8 and a personal iPhone 11 Pro. Both are paired with my car, the 8 since 2018 and the 11 since October 2019.

In all that time, I did not have a single issue with the 8. The 11 worked fine for 6 months and is now almost unusable. Both are on the same version of iOS. Why should that be a bug in my car entertainment system? The 8 still works fine every day.

Something is wrong with the bluetooth protocol here, and it would be a lot easier to fix at the phone.

William might not be an APPLE plant, just somebody that hates to admit they wasted money on a new item. I wish I had kept my iPhone 7. I just thought I’d get the latest so I could keep it longer before APPLE decided to stop updating the older mobiles and iPads. I loved my 4S. And 7. But my iPhone 11 seems clumsier. It seems greater emphasis is put on the camera. That’s ok but I bought it to be a smart PHONE, not a camera. I use a CANNON ES for pictures. Oh for the days of a call box and button “A”

Like so many I have been down the Apple store route, and tried every suggestion made but problem persists. I have no doubts that Apple are aware of the problem but in the scheme of things iPhone 11 users are a relatively small percentage of the overall number. I never had the problem before IOS 13 so to me there seems to be a compatibility problem with the 11. Consequently I suspect a fix will come but in time.

If you've been paying $500 for an annual map update, you're shopping in the wrong place. It costs my $99 every 18-24 months to update my maps. Any firmware/software updates to the auto are done at no cost.

That's with labor.

For example, you an now obtain many Porsche updates for "just" $255, but your system will need to be programmed to accept the new data.

So you are telling me William that you have done an RF capture and packet analysis for every single iPhone 11 in the world and confirm that NO iPhone 11 is doing this?

You have no actual data to backup your claim "it wouldn't work for anyone".

Even if your phone works flawlessly, who is to say environmental conditions aren't different in my car where it wouldn't work, and vice versa if we took my phone to yours?

I don't think anyone is saying that the car unit shouldn't be fixed as well as the iPhone, but you are the only one saying Apple shouldn't have to fix their own product, which I think is why many people are upset here with you.

That's because you are making the assumption that there is something wrong with their product, which is far from certain in this case.

If there is indeed something wrong with Apple's product(s), Apple will fix them.

Thousands of Apple engineers use their own products every day; if these issues were generic and readily reproducible in every case, those same engineers would be regularly pestering those working on the Bluetooth teams for a fix (and they may be.)

Unless you have data showing the phone is doing something wrong, you have no more evidence than I do, although I do know Bluetooth works for the majority of users as well as the fact many owners of flagship Android phones see the exact same issues.

Ultimately, you are correct, environmental issues may play a part, which is why it is important you contact Apple Support directly if you haven't already.
