iPhone 11 on iOS 13 having Bluetooth connectivity issues

New iPhone 11 on iOS 13 is having Bluetooth connectivity issues.

both my daughter and I are having the similar issues.

daughters phone is an 11 64GB Purple.

mine is an 11 128GB White

Hers gets connected to her 2018 Toyota C-HR and constantly drops out. Her iPhone 7 Plus never had any issues.

I have mine connected to a Boss BT module on my motorcycle. Never had any issues with my iPhone X.

neither of our other phones we’re running iOS 13.

I updated to 13.1.2 It looks like "MOST" of my issues have been fixed with this latest update. My 2012 Scion xB stock stereo is now not dropping or getting garbled calls. My iFrogz headphones are now staying connected when paused in Pandora.

The only remaining bug(s) I'm seeing are:

  1. Hey Siri is somewhat spotty. Like the phone isn't hearing me sometimes. Very random.
  2. When placing a call via Hey Siri in my car, the bluetooth connection between my iphone 11 and my scion xB, will connect/disconnect several times before the dialing sound starts. Once the dialing starts, it stays connected.

This is very very frustrating and very poor form on Apple’s part. I see a bunch of people saying Apple can’t fix car’s head units but you know what? You need to support backwards compatibility with older protocols especially something like BT because I can’t replace my car every year like Apple expects people to with their phones.

I also disabled the U1 chip and have seen no improvement with any of my devices. Half of me can’t wait to upgrade to the iPhone 12 hoping they have fixed this hardware issue, part of me is wondering if I just pay this off and sell it and get an older iPhone X...

William would you mind explaining your thought process in terms of one of the issues at hand? Let’s take the iPhone X users, for example (and leave the 11 out of this because I’m truly curious ... and hoping to learn something). They’re phones were working flawlessly until *that* update. What do you think occurred? What *broke* (in your opinion)?

I know you’ve taken heat here and I’m asking a sincere question (not baiting you).

That was fortunately not my experience with my vehicle manufacturer (nor the manufacturer’s of friends vehicle’s who were having the same issue). Finding a working solution (and working with phone manufacturers to do so) at least appeared to be a priority. And when I was initially “blaming” Apple, they advised me that these are complex issues “on all sides” and to be patient (not one of my strengths). My hope is more users will find resolution with this latest update, as I did.

It's not belittling, it's stating that saying the 11 Pro Max "has an issue" should not be made without more proof.

I don't have a Bluetooth protocol analyzer, nor frankly do I own a single Bluetooth device with which the 11 Pro Max doesn't work properly.

Therefore if I had an analyzer, I wouldn't be able to tell where things were going wrong because for my devices, they don't.

However I do know people with analyzers, labs and a variety of devices that both work as well as those that don't, and that's the Bluetooth engineering teams at Apple.

They haven't exactly taken the months since launch off for extended vacations; they are actively working these issues and are working with their internal teams and/or third party manufacturers to resolve these issues wherever possible.

It's a common factor but not necessarily the root cause, that's what I'm trying to get across.

If the 11 Pro is sending commands that the other devices are getting wrong, it's not necessarily the 11 Pro's fault.

However, when it comes to the Beats headphones, as Apple is responsible for both sides of that pairing, that they will have to fix the issue just the same as if the issue was with a pair of AirPods Pro.

I tried this method the other day. Bluetooth stayed connected for a day and a half before disconnecting once again this morning when I left for work. Every method and suggestion has been done repeatedly backwards and forwards on my end and the problem still persists. Glad it hasn't been just me and others have widely been having this same issue with not only iPhones, but Androids and Galaxies, and multiple other car makes and models that have BT capabilities.

At this point, it's a dead end and that we're all just going to have to accept the fact that this is an issue that's so microcosmic and the root of the cause is impossible to identify for anyone to come up with a resolution to the problem.

Hi, I have been following this thread for some time now and see a lot of people with the same issues. I also disconnected my phone and forgot bluetooth devices. removed the phone from my car and reconnected it. NO SUCCESS... :-(

What I find strange is that there seems to be an absolute silence from Apple? How do we know if and how they are working on this issue?? Is there a way to get an update from Apple?

Because bottomline, I bought an iPhone 11 Pro max and am not able to use it in my car on the carkit. Where my previous iPhone6 worked just fine...
