iPhone 11 on iOS 13 having Bluetooth connectivity issues

New iPhone 11 on iOS 13 is having Bluetooth connectivity issues.

both my daughter and I are having the similar issues.

daughters phone is an 11 64GB Purple.

mine is an 11 128GB White

Hers gets connected to her 2018 Toyota C-HR and constantly drops out. Her iPhone 7 Plus never had any issues.

I have mine connected to a Boss BT module on my motorcycle. Never had any issues with my iPhone X.

neither of our other phones we’re running iOS 13.

I updated to 13.1.2 It looks like "MOST" of my issues have been fixed with this latest update. My 2012 Scion xB stock stereo is now not dropping or getting garbled calls. My iFrogz headphones are now staying connected when paused in Pandora.

The only remaining bug(s) I'm seeing are:

  1. Hey Siri is somewhat spotty. Like the phone isn't hearing me sometimes. Very random.
  2. When placing a call via Hey Siri in my car, the bluetooth connection between my iphone 11 and my scion xB, will connect/disconnect several times before the dialing sound starts. Once the dialing starts, it stays connected.

My iPhone 11 connects to a few devices, not all but my iPhone 6s connects to all devices and has double the range, I can walk all the way from the second floor to the first floor parking lot and the iPhone 6s still connects. They should like do a recall and replace bluetooth unit in the phone. Meanwhile Samsung Galaxy just came out with a mean phone that has like 4 camera lenses.

Yeah, your asinine algorithm means nothing. Very happy for you that you don't have the connectivity problems that most of us on this board are facing. But instead of condescending everyone and talking down to those who are expressing their problems and frustrations with this ongoing issue, I suggest you stop with trolling. This discussion obviously doesn't concern you.

Freedom of speech ? Yeh right....

The continued existence of your post disproves your hypothesis.

BTW, Freedom of speech comes from the First Amendment to the US Constitution, which reads (in full):

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Note that it says “Congress shall make no law…” It does not say “Apple Computer shall make no rule…” Where were you in civics class?

William Kucharski, first, I believe what you had said several weeks ago, namely that older bluetooth devices worked just fine before because previously, engineers sloppily ignored/mishandled certain parts of the protocol that weren't yet being utilized. This didn't matter before, but now that the new bluetooth standard has come out (or maybe it's the old bluetooth standard enforced strictly) and it's actually trying to utilize those bits, problems occur. I haven't confirmed this, I am simply trusting that what you say is true.

But William, what you don't acknowledge is the fact that Apple still made the decision to utilize this new protocol (or more strictly adhere to the existing protocol, whatever it is - doesn't matter, that's not the point). Either they didn't know all these problems would occur, or they did know. It's as simple as that. The former indicates incompetence. The latter indicates a severe lack of empathy for its customers, taking for granted loyalty that moves people to pay PREMIUM prices for PREMIUM products, instead being treated as cannon fodder in a war Apple is apparently declaring on the rest of the world for not adhering strictly enough to previous (or future) bluetooth protocols.

I don't know which is worse. Both are unacceptable. People do not pay premium prices for Apple products for the privilege of experiencing bleeding edge technology and acting as beta testers for the world of bluetooth engineers. They pay to experience cutting edge technology that has already been tested and proven to work, bug free.

You also mentioned that a friend of yours works for Apple, which means you are the only person in this thread with a personal stake in how the conversation goes. Maybe your friend deserves great loyalty from you, but Apple as a whole does not as far as this issue is concerned, and the people in this thread deserve to be listened to and validated. Stop saying "Apple isn't responsible for fixing other companies' problems" and admit that Apple still made the bad decision to force its premium customers to act as beta testers... on their own dimes no less!

Perfectly said. I was having no problems until I upgraded my iphone 11 to iOS 13.3 then I’ve had consistent bluetooth not connecting to the same car and same phone, just different iOS. I contacted Apple spoke with level 2 tech. She has me disconnect my watch and blah blah blah. It worked for a while now is does not connect regularly like it used to. And yes i upgraded to 13.3.1 not fixed.

I’ve already done what you suggested more than a few times. I’ve reset the phone, network settings, deleted all BT pairings, reconnected them, etc. I can talk on the phone in the car via BT, but nothing else. I have used the plug n play option but was told by Lexus staff to be careful using the usb as both a charger and music player, as that wasn’t its intended purpose. Never had any BT issues prior to getting this phone.

Does anyone have a fix for the Plantronics headset Apple Bluetooth fox? I contacted Apple and they said Plantronics needed to update their firmware. I called Plantronics and they said the 13.3.1 Apple version should fix it. I told them it didn’t and they said that one of their Plantronics customers figures out a solution and they would send me an email. They never did. Feels like I’m getting lip service from both companies. Appears that Apple didn’t care about moving forward with a different Bluetooth protocol and expecting others companies to catch up with them.

Any ideas for fixing my Plantronics Apple iPhone 11 Bluetooth issue?

In the family we have 2 11 pro max's and 3 11's. We are struggling with all of them on all 5 of our Toyotas. None of us can connect via bluetooth for music, only phone and voice text and they all disconnect after a few minutes when we are playing music or podcasts while connected via USB. I contacted apple twice today and got the standard suggestions that didn't work on 3 of our 5 cars. VERY frustrated! I wish we had kept our 10s!

Same here for most of us! I miss my 10 as well because it worked! I only got the 11 as part of a cell phone plan change, but Im missing my 10!!! While its not the biggest issue it is extremely frustrating and Apple has no fix as of yet. As stated the phone will play/act as an Ipod when plugged in, but BT only works for talking on the phone. So, for music or even gps directions, it won’t connect via BT. I feel your pain.

I agree!! Im seeing the majority of the issues are with Toyota/Lexus, but Im sure there are more vehicles affected. It also dawned on me that the issue is not JUST the BT in my car connectivity. The last couple of weeks I would be on my Airpods or LG BT talking on the phone, and the person on the other end would keep saying “hello? Hello?” But I could hear them. Today when I was on the phone with my LG BT the person on the other end couldn’t hear me, but I could hear them so I turned the BT off and spoke on the phone without any BT and they could hear me. This is such a pain!!!!!!! It began happening in the car with my X after a recent update, but it worked most of the time so I figured it might be user error. Please help us Apple!!!!!
