William Kucharski, first, I believe what you had said several weeks ago, namely that older bluetooth devices worked just fine before because previously, engineers sloppily ignored/mishandled certain parts of the protocol that weren't yet being utilized. This didn't matter before, but now that the new bluetooth standard has come out (or maybe it's the old bluetooth standard enforced strictly) and it's actually trying to utilize those bits, problems occur. I haven't confirmed this, I am simply trusting that what you say is true.
But William, what you don't acknowledge is the fact that Apple still made the decision to utilize this new protocol (or more strictly adhere to the existing protocol, whatever it is - doesn't matter, that's not the point). Either they didn't know all these problems would occur, or they did know. It's as simple as that. The former indicates incompetence. The latter indicates a severe lack of empathy for its customers, taking for granted loyalty that moves people to pay PREMIUM prices for PREMIUM products, instead being treated as cannon fodder in a war Apple is apparently declaring on the rest of the world for not adhering strictly enough to previous (or future) bluetooth protocols.
I don't know which is worse. Both are unacceptable. People do not pay premium prices for Apple products for the privilege of experiencing bleeding edge technology and acting as beta testers for the world of bluetooth engineers. They pay to experience cutting edge technology that has already been tested and proven to work, bug free.
You also mentioned that a friend of yours works for Apple, which means you are the only person in this thread with a personal stake in how the conversation goes. Maybe your friend deserves great loyalty from you, but Apple as a whole does not as far as this issue is concerned, and the people in this thread deserve to be listened to and validated. Stop saying "Apple isn't responsible for fixing other companies' problems" and admit that Apple still made the bad decision to force its premium customers to act as beta testers... on their own dimes no less!
