iPhone 11 on iOS 13 having Bluetooth connectivity issues

New iPhone 11 on iOS 13 is having Bluetooth connectivity issues.

both my daughter and I are having the similar issues.

daughters phone is an 11 64GB Purple.

mine is an 11 128GB White

Hers gets connected to her 2018 Toyota C-HR and constantly drops out. Her iPhone 7 Plus never had any issues.

I have mine connected to a Boss BT module on my motorcycle. Never had any issues with my iPhone X.

neither of our other phones we’re running iOS 13.

I updated to 13.1.2 It looks like "MOST" of my issues have been fixed with this latest update. My 2012 Scion xB stock stereo is now not dropping or getting garbled calls. My iFrogz headphones are now staying connected when paused in Pandora.

The only remaining bug(s) I'm seeing are:

  1. Hey Siri is somewhat spotty. Like the phone isn't hearing me sometimes. Very random.
  2. When placing a call via Hey Siri in my car, the bluetooth connection between my iphone 11 and my scion xB, will connect/disconnect several times before the dialing sound starts. Once the dialing starts, it stays connected.

I’ve asked you this before William and I’ll ask it again. Before you continue on your high horse telling us this is not Apple’s fault, why don’t you do what you’ve suggested and do a spectrum analysis of the Bluetooth frames and prove that the Layer 1 is respecting the standards and that the other device is not.

BUT you will just ignore this message as you have others because god forbid you listen to your own advice.

Thank you Lee!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 I guess we should all contact the car makers, BT makers and everyone else to let them know that they need to fix our devices! Lexus, how dare you NOT work for me since Apple updated their software?!?! LG-you disappoint me by not working with Apple on their latest software update!!! Toyota, you KNEW that this latest update by Apple would cause BT issues and u failed me!!!

I’m sorry all.. Im not a rude person but I have had it with people who continue to say its not Apple. Again, I am loyal to Apple, so I don’t expect perfection, but the high prices we pay should not equate to even higher frustration!! 😡

Then don't be surprised when these issues are never, ever fixed.

Once again, if an issue is Apple's fault, they will fix it if at all possible.

But if the fault lies in say the automotive head end, it won't, as seen by many Android users experiencing the exact same issues with newer Android phones like the Galaxy S10; I'm sure the forthcoming Galaxy S20 will also give their users many of the same difficulties iPhone 11 owners have seen.

So yes, when there are issues with iPhones and AirPods, obviously Apple should fix those issues.

With other devices, the fault isn't so clearly laid.

Send me the equipment necessary and pay me for the time to do the debugging and I'd be happy to.

Do you have the equipment to prove that it is Apple's fault?

Guess who does have such equipment? Apple!

If you honestly believe Apple, having such equipment, can see the issue is their fault and yet do nothing about it, I can't imagine why you wouldn't just sell your device(s), cut your losses and call it a day.

So you mean that EarPods are badly developed. Right. So Apple should not be responsible of the issues made on development of Bluetooth stack on EarPods, a product made by... Apple. Maybe two Apple companies ?

You completely didn't read this, did you:

When Apple is at fault they release fixes as they can find and solve the issues. Certainly each new release of iOS 13 has fixed various issues with various devices.

I've stated numerous times before that when Apple devices have issues pairing with Apple headphones like AirPods, Apple obviously has to resolve that issue.

Certainly Apple also tests against their own devices; anyone who's even visited the store on the Infinite Loop campus or the new Apple Park visitor center knows that iPhones and AirPods are ubiquitous among their employees and certainly if the combo of new phone and AirPods never worked, the engineers would never hear the end of it in the hallways and cafeteria.

I wish it were as easy as old Bluetooth versus new Bluetooth. I have brand new Bluetooth 5.0 anker earbuds that can't hold a consistent connection unless they're less than a foot from my phone. I also have a 2018 Honda Accord with Bluetooth 5.0 with the same problem. Additionally I have a set of AirPods 1 which has Bluetooth 4.2 and they work flawlessly.

I know this isn't the case for everyone as I've seen people in this thread that have issues with AirPods... so I'm at a loss for what is going on.

(Phone version I'm using is iPhone XS Max)

The fact is that Apple has decided to develop his own Bluetooth chip and that it’s a massive failure, as it faces compatibilities issues even with their own equipment... that was not the case with previous versions of iPhone of course.

That is not accurate; a simple Internet search reveals that the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth device in the iPhone 11 models is in fact an SoC from Wi-Fi/BT specialist Murata:

Tech Insights: Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max Teardown

I've never run into any iPhone 11 with a murata chip. Either I've beat the odds by a huge margin or the article is incorrect.

Me too! I thought it was one of my Bluetooth headphones sets I use regularly: but, IT’S NOT DISCRIMINATING! It’s now impossible to use them to have a phone conversation or dictate anything because it’s constantly disconnecting & reconnecting, when my phone’s right by my side!

This is soooo counter-productive for people & business!

Keep it up Apple! I’m about to learn how to operate under the Android system.

the issue started the first week that I traded up to an iPhone 11. I thought it was my headset so I bought a new one. Same issue connecting and disconnecting repeatedly. Same issue in car and on a separate blue tooth speaker.

I brought it to the Apple store one month later in Oct 2019 and they told me that there was no known issue!!!!, and that I should bring my car to the dealership for them to update my 2018 Honda’s Bluetooth! I told them that the problem is on ANY Bluetooth device, they blew me off. So ******.
