I updated my iPhone 6s to IOS 13 and now my BMW iDrive can't access the contacts. Anyone know what's going on?

Same issue here. I work for a BMW dealer as a Genius. 2018 640GT, iPhone XS; iOS 13.1.3. Contact loading is inconsistent when starting the vehicle. Temp workaround: Try going to Manage Mobile Devices>Disconnect (not delete) device; then “reconnect”. That seems to reload the contacts properly MOST of the time. iOS 13 caused it. Remains to be seen whether Apple will correct, or whether a BMW iDrive update will come along. IF you have a pre 2019 vehicle, (not iDrive 7) You can go to BMW.com/update to see if there’s a software update is available for your vehicle. So far, there’s nothing new that I see, however. iDrive 7 go to Apps>push the option button>update apps and services. But again, I don’t believe there’s a fix as of now. BTW, If you’re using Apple CarPlay, everything works fine.

Worked it out. I deleted my iphone from the car's iDrive, delteted the car from the phone, rebooted the phone and re-paired it with the car.
Still working just fine. Like I said delete the phone from the car. Delete the car from the phone then pair them as a fresh Bluetooth pairing. Worked for me anyway.
Did you delete the car from your phone and the phone from your car? Do that then reboot the phone and switch off the car then re-sync the Bluetooth on them.
Hopefully that’ll work for you.
iOS 13.2 does indeed fix the issue :-)
Syncing problem on BMW has been corrected with 13.2! Finally!
Contact Syncing with BMW Handsfree finally solved. Update to13.2 resolved the issues.
If you haven’t already, see if there’s an update for your vehicle, at BMW.com/update. Follow the instructions to download the update onto a usb flash drive, then upload to the vehicle. Other than that, not sure what to suggest, other than maybe try pairing another iPhone with the vehicle to see if contacts will load using that other phone.
I installed iOS 13.2 and the contacts sync normally again. Finally.
There’s another update 13.2. It should work
Wooo hoo!! Finally after ios 13.2 all my contacts sync with bmw idrive again!

I'm not starting to look for reasons other than iOS 13. I've been here on the forum for a number of years, and I've seen a number of reasons why something happens. It is easier to troubleshoot outside causes than it is to troubleshoot the coding of iOS 13, since we don't have any access to that.
I can tell you that my phonebook, consisting of 759 contacts syncs just fine to my 2017 Hyundai, and my 2015 Mercedes. Using the iPhone XS with iOS 13.1.2. Apple provides software to the vehicle manufacturers so they can test their systems to ensure they will work with the latest iOS and Bluetooth standards. Not all manufacturers update their systems, and many also fail to notify their customers there is an issue with their systems and updated software. Customers update to the latest iOS, and it prevents their car from working. That is the fault of the manufacturer, not Apple.
I have the same issue, however my contacts are all stored in an Exchange account (I don't have local contacts on the phone).
I do see a limited set of contacts (why some and some not is a mistery to me) from the first part of the alphabet, from the letter Q on I don't see any entries at all anymore.
Removing the Phone from the car and reconnecting solved it once, but the next time the problem reappeared.
An update to iOS 13 didn't solve the issue neither.
iPhone XS Max
Exact same issue on my 2018 bmw 4 series with idribve 6. It’s bugging the life out of me as i have no idea who’s calling , I use my phone in the car a lot with work.
I would not have updated to ios13 if i knew this was an issue. The new 13.1.2 still hasn’t fixed it.
BMW say its an apple glitch and they are aware of it.
Please Apple fix this awful ios 13 update!
