Siri not giving enough time to speak since iOS 13 update

Hi,

I’m hoping someone might have some ideas for troubleshooting Siri on iOS 13. I have a Toyota Corolla ‘16 and use Siri w/ the Siri Eyes Free button on the steering wheel. After the iOS 13 update, Siri would act like she was listening and then say “One more moment” and then “Sorry, I can’t connect right now. Please wait a moment and retry.” After that, I restarted the iPhone XS and now Siri listens, but only gives me about 3 seconds and cuts me off before responding.

I’ve restarted the phone, reset settings, reset network settings, disconnected Bluetooth and reconnected, turned Siri on/off. I’ve also tested out an older iPhone 6S I have laying around and it still works as usual. Also, Siri works fine w/ my AirPods, Earbuds and on just the phone itself.

Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks.

Hi there tannerl2,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! It's my understanding that you are experiencing difficulties when attempting to use Siri via Siri Eyes Free in your vehicle. I'm happy to provide you more guidance.

You've done wonderful steps so far! To confirm, when you say you disconnected Bluetooth, did you delete your iPhone from your vehicles list of Bluetooth devices, as well as delete your vehicle from the list of paired Bluetooth devices on your iPhone? Then, re-pair as new again with one another? If not, give that a go next.

If the issue remains, check for and complete any new iOS 13 updates that may be available under Settings > General > Software Updates: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support Be sure to back up your data using iCloud or iTunes prior to updating.

Should the issue remain, the next best step is to get in touch with support for your vehicle. This is recommended since the issue has been isolated to a likely communication issue between iOS 13 and your vehicles Siri Eyes Free feature. There may be a firmware update available from the vehicle manufacturer: Entune Audio Plus Systems - Bluetooth

Kindest regards.

tannerl2,

Thanks for following up and sharing these additional details.

At this time, I would recommend reaching out to the vehicle manufacturer to make sure each vehicle firmware is up to date, to ensure its compatibility with the new iOS 13 software. If the firmware is up to date but the issue remains, I would like to have you reach out for continued support using this link: Contact - Official Apple Support

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities.

Take care!

Thank-you for the reply. I can confirm that I did remove the iPhone from Bluetooth and re-add it back. The 2 recent updates to iOS 13 have not resolved the issue as it still persists. My older iPhone 6S as I mentioned was still working with Siri Eyes Free in the car while running iOS 12, but after updating that iPhone 6S to iOS 13 it is also not working anymore either. The issue appears to be an issue with iOS 13. I have been speaking with friends and family who are having the same issues with iOS on various makes of vehicles, not just Toyota. I think there is a glitch in iOS that is preventing Siri from working properly in the car.
