iPhone 11 Pro Max won’t charge wirelessly

Brand new iPhone Pro Max 512gb, last night didn’t charge wirelessly.

  • No case on phone
  • Belkin charger that works on my XR

See the image attached, support claim it was charging but there wasn’t enough power getting through so the battery didn’t charge. Their solution was to turn off a feature that is in place to extend the life of the battery.

Im thinking I just need to return the device as it is clearly faulty, any one else had these issues?

See images.

There is the feature of the phone charging to 80% and stopping which is supposed to help with battery life. You should be able to go into Settings / Battery / Battery Health and switch off Optimized Battery Charging.

In iOS 13, a new charging algorithm will keep your iPhone at 80% when charging overnight. That algorithm will determine when you typically wake up and start the day, and restart the charging sequence to give you fully charged battery when you wake up.

Dear Apple

Could any employee reading this at least acknowledge the issue and perhaps give an update?

Most folks here are reasonable and understand stuff happens with new software or hardware. But at least acknowledge and tell us about the basic plan. Is this a software issue? Hardware? Will you do a recall? Timeline? This is not a “glitch”. It’s a real issue.

i purchased a new charger a a week after I got my new phone and haven’’t had issues since. The old charger still works with my old phone so my wife is using it. No upgrade solved the issue for me. All wireless chargers of this standard are supposed to work but with the new phone this does not seem to be the case. You could find a wireless charger brand that apple officially supports to save the headaches.

I have a Raw Power fast wireless charger, which worked perfectly fine with my iPhone XS. When I put iPhone 11 on it it charged for 1 sec and that's it, restart didn't help. I've checked the product page of the charger and it says it doesn't support the 11 line, which is weird. Anyway I ordered another charger that said to support 11 and it works fine now, it's bad that I can't use the old ones but still I'm glad I didn't send my phone back for replacement for nothing.

This is a software issue. I bought a Belkin BoostUp charger last night and my 11 Pro works flawlessly with that. Any charger I paid under $15 for won’t work, despite having worked with my X and XS. I’ve defended Apple many times in the past but this BS, without any real heads-up or proactive explanation really irks me.

Looks like it’s time to spend a bunch more to be able to charge my phone wirelessly, again!

I’m already on 13.2, BTW. That won’t solve the problem.

I purchased 2 iPhone 11PMx at the same time, one for my wife and one for myself. They are both running the same iOS version and were unboxed and upgraded at the same time in an Apple Store. We also bought identical 2 Qi wireless charging stations from Best Buy the same day. Her's has not had any issues with either Qi charging station and my phone is will not charge with either after the first time. Hard to believe this is a software issue but again when I upgrade to 13.2 I'll see.

I got a battery case for iPhone 11 Pro Max and noticed this morning that the case was fully charged, but the phone was on low power mode. I had charged the pair (I thought) on a USB C Cord. I thought something was wrong with the case but it charged on a wireless charger pad. However, the iPhone did not make the connection. Did the upgrade to 13.2 and now everything works as it should. Based on everyone's notes above, I'll withhold judgement for a few days as to whether the fix is permanent. Fingers crossed

I updated my 11 Pro to 13.2 yesterday. The wireless charging worked great all day. . . . . . Until this morning. So this update did nothing to correct my issue. Come on Apple!! I have owned and loved EVERY iPhone model ever made. This one is making me crazy. I'm about to give it to my wife (she doesn't use a wireless charger) and get a Android!!! THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!!

Rant Over!

I toggled my iPhone 11 Pro into low power mode for a minute or two and afterward, I was unable to use any of my three usual Qi wireless chargers, even after the low power mode was OFF (I'm guessing there is some persistence about the toggle). Three button reset of the phone (V+, V-, hold Wake) and the phone has Qi charging back.

In the process of downloading iOS 13.2, we'll see if that addresses this.

Iphone 11 Pro, running v 13.2.2 - same issue. Bought super nice Qi certified charger at Costco from ubiolabs. Can do 10W and 7.5W and has 2 12W USBs on back for trackpad and keyboard charging, etc. Set my phone on demo system at Costco and it charged so bought it. Brought it home, set phone on it, charging worked, great. Didn't notice when it stopped but definitely day 2 it doesn't work anymore. Tried 80% setting, rebooting, hard resetting, etc. Phone still flawlessly charges on Anker pad I also have. Now have case opened with Apple. This seems like a software thing to me. USB ports also still working to charge other stuff. I don't think the wireless pad part died.
