iPhone 11 Pro Max won’t charge wirelessly

Brand new iPhone Pro Max 512gb, last night didn’t charge wirelessly.

  • No case on phone
  • Belkin charger that works on my XR

See the image attached, support claim it was charging but there wasn’t enough power getting through so the battery didn’t charge. Their solution was to turn off a feature that is in place to extend the life of the battery.

Im thinking I just need to return the device as it is clearly faulty, any one else had these issues?

See images.

There is the feature of the phone charging to 80% and stopping which is supposed to help with battery life. You should be able to go into Settings / Battery / Battery Health and switch off Optimized Battery Charging.

In iOS 13, a new charging algorithm will keep your iPhone at 80% when charging overnight. That algorithm will determine when you typically wake up and start the day, and restart the charging sequence to give you fully charged battery when you wake up.

I have the same problem as already posted by others!

My iPhone 11 Pro is three weeks old. Wireless charging stops working each two days! Only restarting the phone helps.

I contacted the English and German support last week. They have no idea or were not informed about this issue! This is a joke, Apple!!

Reinstall of ios did not solve the problem!

I have a recall from Apple scheduled on Friday.

If they again say that they have not heared anything about it, although this support forum is full of it, I return my device.

I am very unhappy!

Glad to see that this issue is happening with other people and not just me.... tried contacting apple support and they can’t seem to figure out a solution. I’ve been emailing them back and forth for the past few weeks and they've just given up on the case unfortunately and stopped responding to me. Charging works on my Anker wireless charger but stops working on 3rd party chargers and I have to restart my phone for it to work again. However I tried these chargers with an XR and it works perfectly. Apple support mentioned it could be with the different amps of chargers and that the iPhone 11 pro supports a different amperage. Really hoping they can fix this in the future

@Tysonh16:

It is not the qi third party loader, cause one of my iPhone 11 pro works perfectly with the "ikea hektar qi lamp" (Apple certified 3rd party Equipment), the other does not!

it definetly is a problem with your device (and mine)!

I tried eveything but after one or two days it stopps working with Qi!

yesterday I talked to Apple Support the 3rd time, now they repair/replace it!

Simply not true.

I can't tell you why some here are having this issue, but I've certainly never seen it, nor has anyone else I know with an iPhone 11/Pro/Pro Max.

It could be a charger incompatibility, it could be the phone, I couldn't say. I do know that there are certainly at least a few Qi chargers out there that work fine with earlier models of iPhone that support wireless charging but for some reason do not work with the iPhone 11 family.

Your best bet is to continue working the issue with Apple Support.

Updated to 13.2.3 on 21st November and wireless charging no longer works. It has worked since purchase of my 11 Pro Max on a Juice charger - if I attach the lightning dongle that came with the Juice charger the phone does charge, just won't charge when sat on top of the wireless charger.

As the charger continues to work, and has worked with this phone through all the other updates presume it is the current update causing the problem. Just less convenient to have to attach something rather than just pop the phone down on the charger (which I have had for several years using it to charge various iPads, iPhones, iPod Touch and Beats headphones as well as some non-Apple items).

I also do not know why some limited number of users are experiencing these issues with some updates and not others. I myself experienced this problem with my iPhone 11/Pro Max. Wireless charging worked out of the box, then I did an update to 13.2.1 and it stopped working, when I updated to 13.2.2 it started working again. I just updated to 13.2.3 and it is working for me but I am not holding my breath that it will again fail. My wives phone purchased on the same day, has not had a problem yet and we use the same model Qi chargers. I suspect Apple doesn't even know how to fix this or we would have seen mention of it in the version update notes.

This is repeating what everyone else says, but here's to hoping the engineers at Apple is reading this forum: I have this problem with an iPhone 11 Pro Max. Every now and then it stops wanting to charge from my Qi chargers (I tried different ones). It still charges from the lightning port. But to enable Qi charging again I need to reboot the phone, then it works fine and charges up to 100%. But then maybe a couple days later Qi stops working again and it's the same story over again.
