iPhone 11 Pro Max - freezing issues

anyone having issues with the new iphone 11 pro max - often click on the camera and it is frozen and just offers a black screen - messages froze this

morning - only way is to turn the phone off and back on again to clear the issue

Mine too - except my issue is in Contacts - if I search for a contact - it just freezes up. I close the app and it either remains frozen at the same spot or resets to the general view - very frustrating for a 2 day old $1400 phone.....

OKAY, I know this sounds silly - but before I would do ANYTHING I would from my personal experience with strange things on iPhones do the following part A & B. 


(A)

  1. Turn on assistive touch. 
  2. Tap the white circle. 
  3. In rapid consecutive steps press but do not hold:  volume up, then volume down, then the sleep/power button. 
  4. When the slider appears so step 5 below. 
  5. Hold the home button until the iPhone reacts. 
  6. Enter your password. 
  7. After back to home screen then tap the white assistive touch home button from your screen then tap restart. 


If Part A alone does not resolve then follow step B while repeating step A first. 


(B)

1) Airplane mode on & then off, waiting 30 seconds between swipes.

2) Any time you delete data like pics or update large number (or any) apps, do 1 and then restart.

3) If #2 was not necessary, restart phone anyway - I like doing It through assistive touch which can be added to your control panel... or shut down through General.

4) Every day / week at least once if none of 1-3 were necessary - power off the phone for a minute and power back on.

FREEZES! LOOSING INTERNET CONNECTION A LOT! NAVIGATION FREEZES!! Boss bought everybody in the office 🦂🤣 gold 11 iPhone Pro 512 GB GOLD and also mini iPads 5. 🙏 Both freezing a lot and sometimes cost me to accidentally deleting files by topping on the freeze screen and suddenly files disappear and I can not find 8 reports on my new iPod . I have TMobile switched to Verizon , neither have connection in downtown HB, CA. Spouse has some old Samsung beaten up phone 1 never loosing connection seating next to me on it. Ok, not 1 but 6 😄 He has a TMobile. TMobile did not work with my iPhone so I switched two months ago to Verizon, nit sure which worse. 🤯

Haven’t had an issue with this so far on either 11 pro Max we own. If trying the usual that’s often suggested when an issue occurs (restarting, resetting, etc) doesn’t resolve the issue you may need to reach out to Apple Support or visit your local store if one is available to get them to check it out. Assuming you have update the iOS and it hasn’t resolved the issue it’s possible they may have to swap your phone out.

Why refurbished when you’re in the return/exchange period until at least Friday assuming you got it on release day. As far as being done with Apple because you have an issue...it’s an electronic device. No matter what you switch to you can get a bad one. It happens. Contact Apple (if a store is in your area go there). They will exchange it for a new one if there is no way to correct the issue. Did you buy from an actual corporate Verizon store or one of their authorized retailers that have their own policies? Always tell people to avoid buying devices from those type of stores if they can because they can be a headache and have hidden policies. Happens with other carriers also. If you pre ordered online from Verizon then call again and request a manager. No reason you would get a refurb unless you have physical damage or something like that. Not during the return/exchange period.

Thank you so much. I actually decided to call and talk to someone who was beyond helpful while you were typing this I imagine haha. The CSR I spoke to on the app was flat out wrong. I am within the return date, and will be picking it up tomorrow. I had said that I was done with apple because every product I’ve purchased in the last three years has had some serious glitches. I’m normally pretty patient, but for this kind of money I have very high expectations. For some people their prices are nothing, but I’m not a wealthy person. Thanks again for your advice! I’m not saying that this will fix it, but it’s a starting point I guess.

I’m having this issue too. It’s random. I just bought this phone a couple of weeks ago. It’s a iPhone 11 pro max. Sometimes I will try to check an app like email, or camera, instagram and it will open with a black screen, nothing else. When I try to close it, it does but then when I try again I get the black screen and then I go back to home screen. Nothing responds. It doesn’t respond to any touch. When I then try to power off to sleep, it does but doesn’t respond trying to turn it back on. It still doesn’t respond when I try to force restart with power and volume up button. If you hold it for about 15-20 seconds, sometimes it just starts to slowly fade back on to the screen and all is back to normal. I get this at least twice a day.

Same here. My iPhone froze with no apparent reason while I was browsing my Mail app emails feed.... Touch was no longer working... Clock was still running though... After force switch off it would not even switch back on again. I had to revive it by plugin the charger. It's been twice in two days. This time I made a video : https://youtu.be/OjArQQZf6m0

I need to add a new issue with the anti camera app. Lately I’ve been experiencing the app opening into a black screen and frozen. I’m forced to close the app and reopen it. I started experiencing this issue about a week ago. Not sure if it’s related to a he new iOS update to 13.1.3. I feel it is still related to the freezing issues. I will post pictures as soon as possible.

I first reported this problem shortly after receiving the device. I love apple faithfully from the first iPhone until now and I can honestly say that in all the years of iPhones I have never had any problems with any other apple devices until now, and I have had each phone successor new iPhone every release. But, my iPhone 11 pro max has been the worst. I'm on the latest firmware version which was just released 13.1.3 and although better much better but it's still freezing. Opening email makes it seem like its thinking and then unfreezes in about 5 -10 seconds. Sometimes as it freezes the spinning thing comes on faintly in the middle of the screen and then it unfreezes. I love the phone but they have to get it together. Apple put your "genius" people to work. We are not there yet. I can't believe it just did it again while typing this response. I opened an email and trying to scroll through the opened email it froze, the spinner came on and it went to the lock screen.

I’m having this problem with almost every app, native or from other developers. Last few days Google maps has frozen while being used. Is a problem when I’m driving and do not get notified where to turn or exit. I just came from vacation from Las Vegas, I must have missed my turn 3 or 4 times making my driving a nightmare and unsafe for all of us in the car.

I’m not sure what is going on with your phones but I also have an 11 Pro Max and experience none of these issues.


If your phone is slow or laggy I would check for an incompatible app that is using a lot of battery in the background.


Admittedly, I do not use Google Maps, I use Waze and it’s been perfect.


I am obviously I’m not saying you’re not having problems, it’s just that there must be some third factor involved, because I don’t, a valuable troubleshooting point of its own.
