anyone having issues with the new iphone 11 pro max - often click on the camera and it is frozen and just offers a black screen - messages froze this
morning - only way is to turn the phone off and back on again to clear the issue

Mine too - except my issue is in Contacts - if I search for a contact - it just freezes up. I close the app and it either remains frozen at the same spot or resets to the general view - very frustrating for a 2 day old $1400 phone.....
I’m tired brand new iPhone 11 Pro and I txt in messenger and freezes all the time have to reboot force shut down

sorry to hear that, I had the same issue with my 11 pro max and 8 plus I updated it to the latest version and it just got better not 100% but I will say 90% hope full apple will fix this as well
Yes, my iPhone 11 Pro Max is freezing up multiple times every day. This issue began soon as I purchased the phone, and continues with IOS 14 as well as IOS 14.1 I am very unhappy with this phone. Nobody at my local Apple store has any idea what the problem is. I do hard reset's on this phone probably 12 times every single day.
Have you tried to reset the settings? I did this because it said if you did a backup onto the new phone it could be that. I did the reset settings and it helped a lot! my phone doesn’t freeze anymore but I do still have the problem of swiping down on a message notification to reply to it (doesn’t show message, just gray box).
I have the exact same issues as everybody else and even now the issue still plagues all iPhones and onto the new iPhone 12...
It is a problem of the apps refreshing in the background for some reason iPhone processors are going to sleep before the background refresh settings gets to refresh etc, mail, camera etc etc, or whatever the app you are using at the time.
Personally, I haven’t found a workaround as it is a firmware issue so in apple’s court for repair and it isn’t new but they are sitting on there hands as they are more involved with the phone than firmware repair sad but true.
So, playing with settings like turning off background refresh in the settings and restart iPhone, gave me a few days of no frozen apps in background, that’s about it.
I have never seen "freezing" on my 11 Pro Max.
If you are seeing it, have your phone examined.

Mine does none of those things, and that is not normal behavior.

What you describe is not normal for an iPhone of any kind, and neither I nor anyone else I know with an 11 Pro Max has these issues.
