Boot Camp Assistant cannot read any Windows Disc. Is that normal?

iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011) macOS High Sierra Version 10.13.6

I decide to re-install Windows 8.1 on the iMac. But my superdrive cannot read Window 8.1 DVD for the Boot Camp. I have test the DVD on PC, (Dell), it work normally.

Do my superdrive malfunction?

Or, Is this the reason people keep doing EFI Boot with USB, instead?

Remembering, I have successively open about 20 DVD in last 2 month, I'll test them again asap. However, I just found this 'Boot Camp Assistant User Guide' https://support.apple.com/th-th/guide/bootcamp-assistant/bcmp09f5f773/6.1/mac/10.13

It's said 'Older Mac computers require an external USB drive to install Windows on your Mac'. Which bring an important question;

Even if, I install Windows 8.1 with Boot Camp Assistant. Would it return EFI?

EFI, which cause an issue 'No Audio on Boot Camp'.
