iPhone photos app curation

So after updating to iOS 13 on my phone, I noticed that photos has a feature where it curates your photos. On the photos tab, if you scroll all the way down it will give you the status.

so I’ve installed iOS 13 on launch on my xs max. And it’s still stuck on curating. The progress bar is almost complete. And it hasn’t finished.

I got an iPhone 11 pro three days ago and signed on to the same Apple ID and it’s stuck as well. My iPad Pro had oddly completed and on the photos tab it says citations complete.

all three devices signed into the same Apple ID. Has been connected to wifi and power.

Any one having this issue as well ?

They tell us that for curation the phone needs to be plugged to power. If you have hundreds or even thousands of photos to curate which takes a tremendous amount of time I wonder how that works? Buy a second iPhone while the first is plugged to power source for days??? Very clever... I face the same issue and that feature doesn't work for me at all. Too much of a hassle. I am happy with Google Photos.

You can use Photos independent of the curating. We do not need to know, if Photos is still "curating" or not. It would be much better if Apple would just hide the irritating message. It will start again anyway, as soon as we import new photos, favorite some photos, crop photos, or do anything else that might change the curated layout.

I think for photos on mac you don't close the lid as the laptop will end up going to sleep

then again i not use photos for mac.

So I ended up erasing my second phone just for fun to see how well the restore process would go and the curation for my photos on my phone finished less than a day.

On my iMac I've tried this a couple different ways on a Solid State drive and on the Mac's hard drive (I delete the Photos library and make a new one each test). I can load about four photos, and get "Curation Complete" except there's a message underneath that says something like "Curation will start when your device is connected to power."

When I load the fifth photo the endless curation starts. If I delete that fifth photo (and I've tried loading different images) the curation stops, but starts the next time I load an image. If I delete the third or fourth photo the curation continues.

I get same results whether or not the Photos library is a System library. I've been logged into iCloud with Photos selected for all of these tests.

One more round, then I look for a different piece of software.
