When I receive a text message on my iPhone (8plus) from her iPhone (7), her name in my messages list has a small almost grey half moon to the left of her name ....she isn't on silent mode or anything like that, so why would that be there ...... if I pick up the message on my iPad it doesn't show there .....any ideas please

After you have read the message, the moon turns gray which means the text has been read or opened. iOS lets you mute individual messages thread. The light gray crescent moon appears next to a particular contact because you have enabled Do Not Disturb option for that specific contact.

Well after all these years with an iPhone, I have never encountered that so would have no idea how I would have done it ...so can you explain how I can do something about it please. It is my daughters phone and she lives some miles away, so would not have done it even if I had known how ....
