Why does the MacBook Air turn off with a magnet
Its not that important but I was wondering why placing a magnet on the right side of the keyboard turned off the computer

Just to expand on HWTech's correct reply, For years Apple has employed a magnetic based sensor to sense a closed lid. When you close the lid the magnet shifts a metal piece which in turn closes the electrical circuit. When the circuit is closed the computer turns off. If you place a magnet in that location you are closing the circuit.
