iPhone 11 screen scratches

my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

This is somewhat consistent with what I experience. There’s no Apple store around me at the moment, so I’ll have to wait till I travel to a place that has to have them checked out, but I do have an open case with Apple support. I tried cleaning the said scratch with a little bit of toothpaste, no dice.

Looks like this is a real issue affecting the iPhone 11 Pro? Anyone having the 11 with this issue?

One point of clarification on my particular issue - I had previously owned an iPhone 11 Pro Max for 6+ months. No screen protector since day 1, not a scratch on the screen over that entire time period. The phone needed to be replaced due to another issue. The replacement phone (same model) started receiving scratches within a few days. The scratches were very fine and almost looked like a fingerprint smudge. It continued to grow in size and became quite distracting as

the scratches accumulated. Ended up buying a screen protector and the scratching issue has stopped. Like other users on this string, I had grown used to the fact that iPhone screens were very durable. I have owned at least 5 previous versions and never once used a screen protector and never had any issues. I see that a lot of comments that state that we should have known to buy a screen protector. Why would we expect this screen to be any different to previous versions? If Apple was significantly changing the design (as many have pointed out) to make the phone/screen more resistant to drop damage, but more likely to scratch, it would have been nice of them to notify us and strongly encourage the use of a screen protector (since many of us have grown used to not needing a screen protector). On a side-note, I’m still puzzled as to why my original iPhone 11 Pro Max didn’t have a scratch on it after 6+ months and this replacement phone scratched so easily. I wonder if there was just a bad batch of screens or a change in material/supplier at some point in the manufacturing process that is causing this issue for only a subset of the Apple community.

I have scratches around the ear speaker, and it literally looks like a crack in the screen. There are micro-scratches around the edges, large scratches in the centre, and what looks like permanent smears in the corners (Well, technically, rounded edges, whatever)

I see more scratches on the iPhone 11 that I purchased 2 days ago than I saw on my iPhone 5s that I purchased 3 years ago. And you know how I got the scratches on the iPhone 11? By putting it in my pocket. No keys or coins, or anything else in my pocket, literally just my iPhone 11. I paid $747.93 (after sales tax) for an iPhone that scratches very easily. And don't even get me started on the back glass. That is another entire ARTICLE for another day. And my dad says that only I have this problem and that "I'm not careful with my iPhone" 🙄

Same issue here, I bought my iPhone pro max 11 3 days ago, kept it separate from everything, either in pocket or on counter and it two has 3 scratches on it, 1 looks like someone has dragged a key on it, it's so deep. As it like the other people on here, I am also very displease and it is very annoying. Had my iPhone XR for 2 years without a screen protector and hardly had 1 scratch on and that got thrown around the place. Not happy with this iPhone 11 Pro Max screen at all.

I have the exact same problem. I definitely think it is some sort of defect because from day one I have had a glass screen protector on it and it is never near my keys or anything sharp. It has never fallen and I am always extremely careful with it. When I decided to switch from glass screen protector to silicone screen protector I now see the defect and I’m very disappointed. I’ll have to make use of my AppleCare I guess.

iPhone 11 Pro Max .

I never had to use any screen protector I’m so careful with my electronics all my stuff looks like brand new, and now this phone looks like I just got it from a secondhand store after 3 days I had a deep scratch from out of blue after 4 weeks I don’t want to look at it of course Apple never has heard about it right? I’m so disappointed, why the **** do you need to use screen protector when you a careful user . I don’t want to look at a $20 rubber case when I just got a “ designer phone “ Apple should replace the screen for no charge if you have or not Apple care

To be honest I’m heartbroken to be so disappointed. My friends have said so much good stuff but now I have a iPhone 11 Pro Max that has been in a hybrid shockproof case which was very bulky and with a screen protector it has scratched and I don’t want my parents to pay a lot to get the scratched out. If people are paying between £1100-1500 for the iPhone 11 Pro Max it should be premium. World’s toughest glass on a phone. I’d rather take the new Samsung fold z 2 or the note 20 ultra. If apple is still a reputable brand in about 4 years time I’ll give them another chance but I’ve been with Samsung for almost 7 years and switched so I do have more experience with android so please improve this. Even tho the 12 is coming out even if your recall the iPhone 11 Pro Max series and switch out the damaged screens for free ( a free repair) (or give the pro max holders the 12 pro max or the best 12 that will launch I think most people will forgive you just a suggestion) but apart from that it’s great.

I came home from walking the dog my iPhone 11 was in my pocket with my keys.

later I noticed a spider crack in the screen the phone is only a few weeks old this seems odd as I didn’t drop the phone there is a screen protector on the phone.

my keys were in the same pocket so I assume they had contact with the screen.

The glass seems very thin if this damage happened in my pocket.

I had an Android for years even dropped it a few times this never happened.
