iPhone 11 screen scratches

my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

The same happened to my iPhone Pro. I just got it yesterday and kept it in a pocket with nothing else. Less than a day later and there's already a scratch. I didn't have this problem with the iPhone X.

I have the same problems as many of you here. Since years I am wearing my iPhones inside the pocket of my pants - nothing else within it. My iPhone 11 Pro now has hundreds of micro scratches on the display glass. Support says its not within the usual warranty cause those scratches would appear from "larger dust particles" than to find in a pocket of your jeans.

Hope that Apple will help as soon as possible!!

Samsung phones come with a screen protector installed at the factory as without it their screens are just as prone to scratch damage if not more:

The Verge: WHY YOUR BRAND-NEW SMARTPHONE WILL SCRATCH JUST AS EASILY AS YOUR OLD ONE

so that won't work for those of you who "hate the feel" of a plastic screen protector on your phone:

Well i always use a case AND screen protector and in a couple of months the aluminum band has a lot of places where the paint is chipping away. Since its a cosmetic issue its not covered by warranty. And Apple is not able to tell me why this is happening. Here's a few images to describe my pain.

Just super surprised by the poor build quality. So much for my first iPhone.

I just got the iPhone 11 Pro a couple weeks ago and I all ready see deep scratches? I never dropped or put it no where near sharp . I did not have this type of problem with my iPhone 6. Not impressed:/

I am facing similar issues with my new iphone, i bought it online and there was scratch on the screen in 1st week of usage. I already complained to Apple store and they said it physical damage and i had miss used my phone so it scratched. So i had decided to switch to Samsung in future or some other brand which i can miss use and that will suit my style of user preferences i.e. keeping phone in pocket after use. Attached here the pictures of my last i phone i am not going to miss it in future.🤣

Not at all.

You may need a screen protector because of the way you use your phone; others may not.

It would be like every auto maker adding a 3M clear bra to every vehicle at the factory; they could but then everyone would have to pay for protective film not everyone needs.

Oh, and auto paint has been getting less and less scratch-resistant as time goes on, largely for environmental reasons.

The first thing most any buyer of a high end vehicle does? Get a clear bra or wrap applied, of course:

Ferrari 458 Clear Bra Application

Note Android phone manufacturers have the same issues, and Samsung now applies a screen protector at the factory.

Apple could do the same and just raise the price of the phone $20 if you prefer, but why not allow customers a choice instead?

So then you already know the Galaxy 10, 10+ and now 20 phones come with a screen protector applied at the factory because the actual glass on them is just as scratch prone, so why didn't you apply one at purchase to your iPhone?

By the way, you don't need a business account to return your iPhone for any reason within 14 days of purchase directly from Apple, that's Apple's standard return policy.

i have the same issue with the iphone 11 i had for about 5 days now. i had my old iphone 7 since it was released with no issues. i liked it so much i had the battery replaced about a year ago to keep it longer. But i wanted to update my camera so... anyway i have had a case on this iphone 11 since day 1 and have not dropped it or had it against anything abrasive. Then i notice a small hairline scratch. it bugs me because i am always very careful with my phones. i contacted Apple and they said it was covered my warranty but not sure what that means. i do have Apple Care but i think has to be a defect and i do not want to use the Apple Care 5 days into having my phone when i know i didn’t cause it by anything other than reasonable, careful even, use. i have an appointment next weeknd at the Best Buy for a screen replacement and i am hoping it’s free. Disappointed in this. otherwise i love the phone. Glass usually doesn’t scratch easily at all and i think this is a defect.

Did you bother to read any of the posted links which explains why Apple and ALL other high end phone screens are now less prone to breaking after a drop, but can scratch more easily? The links are littered throughout this thread. The fact is a simple screen protector will protect your phone.

Case in point: My partner dropped his iPhone 11 last week. It had the Apple installed Belkin Screen protector on it. The screen protector shattered. The phone screen suffered absolutely NO damage whatsoever. We simply replaced the screen protector and there is no hint the phone was dropped on hard concrete. If you want to avoid getting more scratches, put a screen protector on your phone. Apple is not going to replace your screen for cosmetic issues.

About cases: There are some amazing cases which let your "designer phone" colors come through beautifully. I have one which has 9H Hardended glass (like a front screen protector) on the back of my iPhone 11 Pro Max. It didn't even cost $20 (Amazon has some amazing values in iPhone cases).
