my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

Older smartphones had more scratch resistant, but more brittle glass.
Since people don't like paying $300 to replace their glass when dropping their phone a foot, cell phone makers overall (not just Apple) moved to formulas that are more shatter-resistant but are slightly more scratch prone.
This issue is solved with a $20 screen protector; you can't apply something for $20 that will stop your screen from shattering in a fall.
just bought the 11 a week or two ago and already a small but noticeably visible and tactile scratch. after 10 or so years of owning iPhones (3 total) this is the first noticeable scratch. My last phone, 6s+, lasted 5 years without one visible scratch. First time ever complaining about iPhone.
yeah! you don’t seem to get the irony in being have to buy a cheap accessory after buying one of the most expensive phones in the market to suggest that. even my iphone se doesn’t have this many and deep scratches. is it a choice to get your screen scratched now?
i think you know i don’t care what apple thinks about my impact on their bottom line. you probably also know this is a public forum and i’m expressing that i lost trust in this brand (which is my main reason for choosing apple) in however way i want.

You don't understand that:
1) It's personal choice. If you are careful, you don't need one.
2) It's personal choice, why would you want Apple to raise the price of the phone to force you to pay for one installed at the factory like Samsung does?

Since you dislike screen protectors, you do know that Samsung phones come with a screen protector preinstalled from the factory, correct?
Not only do I remember them, I'm in those days right now. I love my iPhone 11 Pro Max and am anxious to order the 12 Pro Max. I love my iPad Pro and Apple Magic Keyboard. I love virtually everything I've ever bought from Apple. But then I protect my expensive investments. All iPhones and iPads in my home have screen protectors on them.
It's stronger, it's not scratch-proof and never will be.
Most sand particles in peoples' pockets are harder than any glass that can be reasonably used without shattering at any drop.
Besides, it hasn't been released yet, so who knows what preproduction models are like.
My case and protector have been shipped but aren't here quite yet. 😉
iPhone 12 is the only major smartphone, including the iPhone 11, that doesn't scratch at Mohs level 6 (takes level 7). Also the screen is dramatically more resistant to cracking under pressure:

You are as capable of googling Samsung Phone Scratches or LG Phone Scratches or Google Phone Scratches as I am. The reality is you may believe there is nothing but lint in a pocket. But our pockets often have very small grains of sand or other teeny tiny hard particles in our pockets. Cloth is NOT scratching your phone. Hard granular particles of sand or other materials ARE scratching your phone.
I don't believe Apple sells any phone today with the same glass as iPhone 6 did back then. The 2020 iPhone SE is a modern new iPhone and should not be compared to an iPhone 6. I did read your post. That said, this is a thread about iPhone 11, not iPhone SE.
But they sell and had Belkin make a special machine just to install screen protectors in store. So I don't see it being any different if it's Apple branded or not. Apple promotes Screen Protectors on their website and in-store.
What I find amusing is all the people who claim their iPhone 6 for example didn't ever get a single scratch. iPhone 6 was the ONLY iPhone I failed to put a screen protector on and it got all scratched up. Glass is glass and glass scratches. Period. I've not had a phone since iPhone 6 without a screen protector.
A good example recently. My partner drops his phone more than he should. A couple weeks ago he dropped his iPhone 11. The screen protector shattered. The phone screen was unblemished. I just had a new protector installed and the phone is perfect.
Many people have never dented their car, then manage to dent it hours after buying the most expensive new car they've ever had.
Things happen, that's why you apply a $30 screen protector to protect the screen on your expensive phone.
Never had this issue before but mine got scratched within days of getting it!! It’s subtle but there. This is ridiculous Apple!
If you read through the thread, you'll see people have and Apple is NOT replacing phones for this.
My iPhone 11 pro scratched just after one day of use, no contact of hard things. So disappointed!
