iPhone 11 screen scratches

my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

The same happened to my iPhone Pro. I just got it yesterday and kept it in a pocket with nothing else. Less than a day later and there's already a scratch. I didn't have this problem with the iPhone X.

What you and so many others are completely NOT understanding is toughness and scratch resistance are NOT the same. The glass IS tougher. It won't shatter as easily as previous iPhone's have in the past. That doesn't equate to less scratch proof. Not at all. I'm glad the glass is tougher and won't crack easily of dropped. But I'm smart enough to understand glass can still scratch and iPhone 11 should, like all previous iPhone's still be protected by a screen protector. Everyone spent hundreds if not more than a thousand dollars on their new iPhone. A good screen protector can be bought for $10. $10 is not an unreasonable expense to protect the phone.

That I understand. But complaining here on this forum to only other users isn't helping you or anyone. Now that you know the screen may scratch easier, PUT A SCREEN PROTECTOR ON IT to avoid getting more scratches. Apple isn't going to replace your phone. People have already tried. So do something which will help you as opposed to complaining about something not one person on this forum can do to help you.

Hello honestly i think that this just a campaign againt apple you just want to give a bad thoughts about the new iphone because its the most powerfull phone of the year i saw all the photos of the scratches and i think its impossible to such scrutches to happen from nothing it dosn't really make any sense especially from a great company like apple am using the new iphone without any protections and nothing happened and we will wait to hear from some official sources

Off course we understand and thanks for your response. It is not my intention to complain. However I can confirm that the Iphone 11 and other related models do scratch easily toughness does mean does not scratch or scuff. Gorilla glass and other surfaces I have dont exibit scratches like this phone does. Is it a show stopper ? No it is not ! but Apple has to be accountable for their claims. Had I not been mis-led by Apple's claim I would have put a screen protector on it. They dont look bad right aways but you see them in light at glancing angle and and you realise OMG where did all these scuff marks come from in just 3 days ! When the number of reports are in the millions then there is a lot of truth to it. Rest my case.

This is very interesting. So when I get my phones, they immediately go into a case with front and rear protection, it's how I keep my devices in pristine condition. My new iPhone 11 Pro Max has only been out of the case a few times; when I got it and when I took it out to show a couple friends, and when I took it out to clean it. In all cases, it was not exposed to any hard or sharp objects on the screen.

The other day when I got home, after removing it to show a friend the frosted glass back, I took it out of the case to make sure to wipe any fingerprints off, and I noticed a couple small scratches on one part of the screen. It made no sense to me, I was super careful, and besides, screens aren't supposed to scratch that easily. My first thought was to take it in and get a screen replacement (yeah, sort of extreme) but then I decided it must have been that way when I got it and I just didn't notice (you have to hold it in the light a certain way to even see them) so I figured I would just ignore it for now.

Then, today I see this, and the 100s of other similar responses (so far) from other users. So, maybe there will be a resolution after-all. I am posting solely to add my voice to the awareness of the problem and to say it isn't just the people that don't use screen protectors.

I think it's important to note that in virtually every complaint, the only variable is the phone and not user behavior. I've owned over 10 different iPhones, some where owned by the company I worked for at the time, and none of them ever had a screen protector. The work iPhones weren't even mine, so I had no real motivation to take special care of the device. They all lasted YEARS without any significant scratching. Only the phones changed - not normal user behavior. To fault new iPhone 11 users for not immediately adding a screen protector when their old device did not have one is absolutely moronic. That is not the issue. These people, with normal user behavior, are experiencing a serious problem where the only thing that has changed is the phone. My iPhone 11 Pro is doing fine. I don't have scratches and nothing has changed with how I use the device. That does NOT mean that there isn't a problem. Continue to band together and bring it to the attention of Apple!

What you and so many others are completely NOT understanding is that a screen protector should NOT be necessary on a 700$+ phone. I don't care how cheap screen protectors are, a device that's meant for daily use should not get DEEP scratches within days of purchase from normal handling. Small scratches are to be expected, but what many in this thread are experiencing are very noticeable scratches going straight through the top coating.

Requiring a screen protector on a 700$+ phone is a design flaw.

Scratch vs shatter resistance is indeed a very simple concept, and a balance must be struck. But in this case Apple may have gone too far towards the shatter-proof side.

Samsung is using the same Corning Glass 6 on their new phones this year. And people are also complaining about them scratching, so feel free to move over to Samsung, but don't be surprised when the Samsung also scratches. Though, they are shipping these phones this year, with a Screen Protector already installed, which can be removed if the user doesn't want the protector on their phone.

I'm saying Samsung is using the very same Glass on their new phones. Samsung provided the screens for the new iPhones. No, you don't HAVE to use a screen protector, unless you're OK with continuing to get scratches. If you want to protect your screen, it would be smart to put one on your phone and be done with this. The choice is yours. Apple isn't going to replace your phone.

I just got a brand new iPhone 11 Pro on Monday. Looking at it today, 4 days later, I have a scratch on the screen. I have done nothing but put the phone in my pocket. It has a case. I have not dropped it. I have not even put it down. I cant believe it is scratching so easily. I have been an iPhone user since the first iPhone. My iPhone 6S did not scratch like this. Apple! How are you going to fix this?

Oct 10, 2019 11:00 AM in response to ludoo

I'm completely on your side. Switching to the latest iPhone (iPhone 11 pro), I was expecting an "upgrade". But after only one day use, it got scratches worse than my 3-year-old iPhone 7. This is NOT acceptable. Especially Apple marketed it as the "TOUGHEST" iPhone.

And I don't know why there's a guy here keep replying on every complaint here, and telling people this is not Apple's fault, get a screen protector or you are not smart enough.
