iPhone 11 screen scratches

my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

The same happened to my iPhone Pro. I just got it yesterday and kept it in a pocket with nothing else. Less than a day later and there's already a scratch. I didn't have this problem with the iPhone X.

Take it to your Apple Store Genius Bar and show it to them. While a couple people have said they did get a replacement, most have been denies as cosmetic damage and that's not covered under warranty. If you are successful in getting a replacement, put a screen protector on it or be prepared to have this happen again. If they don't replace your phone, put a screen protector on it to avoid getting any more scratches.

If the iPhone 11 Pro Max is so delicate that a screen protector and case is not enough to safely put it in my jacket pocket or jeans by itself (nothing else like keys, etc on the same pocket) without risk to the front cutout where the camera and sensors are located, it becomes too delicate for my day to day use and I might as well stay with XS Max that hasn’t had any issues in slightly over a year of use with a screen protector and case...

I just have a tough time forking out over a $1k for a phone with the “toughest glass on any smartphone” if the area where the screen protector cutout is going to get damaged without abuse from just putting it in my pocket. It’s a very personal issue and I am not dissing the product in any way, it just doesn’t work for me at that price with that kind of advertised features and such delicate glass.

Just noticed my brand new iPhone 11 Max Pro has several scratches on the screen. I’ve always carried my iPhones in my left pocket with nothing else in it. I take very good care of my phones, this is ridiculous. The only time I’ve ever gotten scratches like this on my iPhone is the one time I accidentally dropped my phone at an airport and it slid along the concrete screen side down. This is a bunch of Bs.

I do plan on installing a screen protector and a case as soon as the phone comes out of the box but I am concerned about the area on the front where the camera and sensors are because the screen protectors have a cutout there and the full coverage ones (or at least every single one I have tried) tend to lift and bubble at the edges.

A scratch where the front camera is could blur the captured photos and potentially interfere with Face ID, etc

From an old Oct 19, 2018 "The Verge" article. Some interesting stuff there

"WHY YOUR BRAND-NEW SMARTPHONE WILL SCRATCH JUST AS EASILY AS YOUR OLD ONE"

"The reason why has to do with both market demand and glass’ natural qualities. Since glass can’t truly be both extremely drop resistant and scratch resistant, Corning and other glass makers are forced to choose which of those two qualities to prioritize. For Corning, drop resistance takes precedence."

Look how many people here have had an abnormal experience with their screens. Who is buying the fact that Apple made defective screens this run because they are poorly manufactured?

No, there is something new in/on/around the screen that Apple

is not telling us about. And now that screens are showing highly unusual scratches, they seem to be blaming the user. Is everyone really believing Apple has no idea what's going on?

These scratches are because there is something different about the screen.

Apple received a patent in 2013 for a second, invisible screen. That would be an invisible layer or so-called 'invisible' light.

Why is nobody putting these pieces together? Your screens are scratched because there is some technology in them that Apple is not making users aware of.

I can't turn off my flash illuminator - it is scanning my face, scanning my retinas and feeding me info based on my emotional reactions.

And now these weird scratches.

You all feel like your iphone reads your mind? It is, it's constantly illuminating your eyes with infrared light, reading your retinas and giving you info based on that. I feel like I need a tin foil hat; but based on my user experience something very strange is going on.

I thought the screen scratches may hold

some answers, Apple is clearly hiding something.

Because they're not unusual. Saying so doesn't make it true. Literally every release has had the same complaints. "Why do people keep arguing for screen protectors?" Because it's common sense that when you have a device with a glass front you'd need to protect it. I had my screen protector and case a week before the iPhone was shipping. Not a single scratch. See how that works?
