iPhone 11 screen scratches

my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

The same happened to my iPhone Pro. I just got it yesterday and kept it in a pocket with nothing else. Less than a day later and there's already a scratch. I didn't have this problem with the iPhone X.

First of all, the quoted part of the Terms of Use begins with „Apple may respond to questions“. Ooops.

Apart from this, every single answer increases the attention on this topic. That’s what we want - to get attention and to make Apple giving a statement on that issue.

Apple IS ignoring that thread - or do you think they haven‘t noticed it yet?

You don‘t need to answer every single post in the same way - that won‘t help us.

If you read on:

Any information that is provided by Apple or Apple employees is offered on an "AS IS" basis without warranties of any kind.

Attention from whom, precisely?

Support is handled through Apple Support; if your intention is solely to somehow "provoke" Apple into making a statement, that's not likely to happen.

Yes, the community specialists respond to posts that have gone unanswered for more than 12 hours and which can be answered by referring to a KB article.

No, really, it doesn't. The only Apple employees regularly reading this thread are the Hosts. And that's only to make sure that no one violates the terms of use. There are very few Hosts and a lot of posts every day. They don't have much time to spend.

If you want this issue to get noticed, submit feedback, call support, take your device to your local Apple Store, write letters to Mr. Cook.

Ok so this is day 10 with my iPhone 11 Pro Max and still not a single scratch.

Also I was wrong about salt being able to scratch the screen. I googled it and salt is only a hardness of 2 - 2.5.

I went against my better judgment and sprinkled some salt on the table, took the case off my phone, slapped it down on top of the salt, and swirled it around on the salt. I did this on both the front and back of the phone. I even wiped the phone on my shirt to rub the salt off.

not a single scratch anywhere on the front or back of the phone.

I simply can not reproduce this issue with normal use or even some not normal use.

Extremely puzzling.

My original 11pro max shattered when I dropped it around 4 inches. I’d also experienced a deep screen scratch when I removed the phone from an otherwise empty pocket.

Now I have a replacement pro max as I was insured. ATM it seems more resilient to scratches which to me indicates a problem with the manufacturing of my first phone.

I will keep the forum updated.

I have the same exact thing - I bought my phone just a week ago and I can already see some minor scratches on the screen - very disappointed. I have never used screen protectors on my phone, but alsways protected the phone with a premium case, never had anything like that. I have upgraded from a Xs which is almost a year old, and the screen is stick intact without any scratches. I never put any keys in my pocket nor any other items to scratch it - my colleague has the same 11 Pro, his screen is scratched too - @apple, can you do anything about it? It's the worse screen you have ever produced !!!

I am having the same issue! I have not dropped my phone once since getting it in September. It has over a hundred thin scratches all over the screen. This is really upsetting for the amount we pay for a "premium" product. I tried reaching out to Apple Care and asked them if anything else has reported this issue. The said no...I find that hard to believe after seeing everyones experience here. I feel like there should be a recall. I had a 7 plus for 3 year and the screen NEVER looked this bad.

I have that very same issue. When I got my iPhone 11 Pro Max, i noticed out of the box the phone has slight imperfections. The phone has a few chips in the Bezel on the back of the phone, also the matte on the back has 2 dark spots that won’t seem to come off. I’m very very disappointed in the quality of this iPhone. I was cleaning my camera the other day and also noticed a scratch on the outer case of the lenses. Very upsetting beings that this is a $1400 phone. Also I’ve had a case on this since taking the phone out of the box. Let’s hope next year they do away with the matte back finish.

Mohs Hardness of Common Objects

knife blade 5 to 6.5

quartz 7

https://geology.com/minerals/mohs-hardness-scale.shtml

Also I find it quite funny how you know the brand and the exact hardness that blade carries. From what you know, he maybe even used a different knife for the iphone 6s video and changed it up. He is a youtuber for Gods sake. ;)

Also a material with hardness of 7 will scratch deeper and easier (with less pressure) a softer glass than a hard one. So while quartz will scratch every screen:
1) it will scratch DEEPER the softer glass than the hard one
2) hard glass can get away without dmg if the pressure is not that strong and soft material is on the other side of it
3) or hard glass will get away with way less dmg than the softer glass that will scratch deep as **** even from the smallest contact without pressure

Facts. The same as how the 7 pick scratches the screen a lot deeper and easier than 6. The bigger difference between the two materials - the bigger the damage is. So that 7 will scratch a lot worse and easier glass that is 5.2 vs glass that is 5.9.

I could correct all the obvious factual errors in your post, but I've already done so several times.

My iPhone 11 Pro without a screen protector: No scratches, even micro-scratches after 61 days of ownership during which I've traveled over 18,000 miles across two continents with it in my front pants pocket.
