iPhone 11 screen scratches

my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

Older smartphones had more scratch resistant, but more brittle glass.

Since people don't like paying $300 to replace their glass when dropping their phone a foot, cell phone makers overall (not just Apple) moved to formulas that are more shatter-resistant but are slightly more scratch prone.

This issue is solved with a $20 screen protector; you can't apply something for $20 that will stop your screen from shattering in a fall.

I've been an iPhone user from the first gen and have never had the misfortune of a scratched screen or a shattered one.

During the latest release, I went from an XS Max to an 11 (yes, a "downgrade") and I am absolutely baffled and disappointed by the scratches that I am finding on my screen. I have NEVER had an issue like this before and I am absolutely perturbed to learn this is a widespread problem. This is NOT the "toughest glass in an iPhone" - It's infuriating!

Same here. I have put the Apple Transparent Back Cover that provides a raised edge that prevents the screen from touching surfaces. Even then I am seeing the scratches when seeing the screen turned off. Although the scratches do not affect display when it is turned on. I am still not sure whether to put a screen protector or demand a replacement from Apple.

Your having a laugh. So you think that people who have bought an iPhone are just investing their time complaining for fun. I seriously have better things to be at. I’ve had a 5s for five years and now upgraded to an 11. The new phone is in the same environment and gets the same use. After less than 3 months I have a 15 mm deep scratch on the screen. My old phone has none. How do you explain this? Do you work for Apple because nobody could stand over an inferior product that has been miss sold as the toughest smartphone screen. I am so annoyed with this and will be bringing a case to trading standards if it’s not resolved for free. I suggest everyone does this who has the same issue (false advertisement about the screen) these statutory bodies are required by law to pursue this issue and it’s the same in all jurisdictions. People are not reporting this for a laugh. So take a run and jump! To android???

Thats really complicated. Here’s my take.

Apples ad show the phone being dropped and carried in bags with other items in its naked form. This being the case it’s reasonable for consumers to assume they can do the same...but they can’t as the phone gets damaged. That’s on Apple and therefore they should take responsibility. Likewise with any design issues preventing consumers using as they have shown in their ads.

It’s a great phone but very unfortunately they’ve made a mistake in their promotional campaign.

I have the same problem, the quality on this display is not that good, and actually i went to the apple Store for replacing the LED Display using my apple care and they told me they will not, only if it is broken, scratches are not covered. For me the scratch is very annoying as i cannot fully enjoy the experience of watching my photos and videos.

You are allowed to express your opinions and experiences on this site. This does not contravene the Apples terms and conditions of use provided you clearly state that it is your opinion rather than a hard and fast fact. When relating your experiences, clearly state that, rather than express it as a matter of fact.

If there are facts that can't be denied, such as Apples ad shows the phone being dropped then you don't need to add "in my opinion" or "my experience: Hope that helps you!
