iPhone 11 screen scratches

my wife and me have put our brand new iphones 11 inside our pocket pants and both screens get scratched the second day of use (mines right in the selfie camera, apple says “without mal function”...). Has someone experimented somethg similar? We are really dissapointed, apple only cares if you have bought “apple care”....we cant use the screen without a protection: worst screen ever....👎

The same happened to my iPhone Pro. I just got it yesterday and kept it in a pocket with nothing else. Less than a day later and there's already a scratch. I didn't have this problem with the iPhone X.

Putting a phone in a pocket is normal, but you also can't refute that action (or another) caused the scratch.

You also can't definitively say whether there was anything in the pocket or along the rim of the pocket that caused the scratch. Most of the scratches I've seen here look like something abrasive was located along the rim of the pocket, as they are usually long and curved, which is what you would get if say there was a bit of sand with a hardness of 6 or higher embedded in the pocket rim.

However, unless the object is a something very hard or abrasive, it is possible to say that a screen protector would have prevented any damage to the screen in that case (it would have had to scratch through the protector to damage the screen as well.)

Apple only releases its iPhone handsets once a year, so there's very little change, at least compared to other brands that release new phones in multiple waves every year.

With the 2019 iPhone overhaul, the lineup has changed again, and we've welcomed the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max to the world. These three new premium smartphones take the top places on our list, displacing the 2018 iPhone XS range and all previous Apple smartphones.

In other words, some of the older iPhones are likely cheaper - and you'll likely save even more money with the the forthcoming Black Friday and Cyber Monday Deals, so just bookmark those hyperlinked pages to make sure you're getting access to the top curated deals from across the web by our in-house experts. Same here, day 1 my phone did slip out of my pocket while sitting down. It feel to my hardwood floor and slid a few inches... I can now see and feel a scratch across nearly the whole screen. 2 months in now and I have multiple small scratches all over the screen. I upgraded from the 7. The screen scratches are nearly identical on a 3-4 year screen vs a 2 month old screen. The only difference was that on the 7 I never got a scratch that I could feel like I can on my 11.

Disappointing to say the least.

Just go to apple and have them replaced it. Mine is over 14days, went to apple, return it. Got a new one & put screen protector. This phone is not as good as my iphone 4s, no screen protector, no scratch. This has been my backup phone, place inside wooden drawer, inside bags with keys, naked, no scratch. Iphone 11, 1 week, scratch. so just put screen protector.

since apple is not reading this, maybe they will hear it if a lot of people will return/exchange. apple is so confident that their phone will still be sold no matter what, thats fine, but an unusual spike on their graph for return will make them feel it.

Same issue with my new iPhone 11 Pro Max.

After having it in my pocket with nothing else in addition there are plenty of scratches in the display.

Never had such issues with all my other iPhones during the 2 years I used it in average.

A shame it happened now with the most expensive one I purchased.

Thats not the quality I expect from a premium Smartphone.

Really disappointing :-/

I got a 11 Pro Max the first week from Sprint and returned it a month later due to multiple deep scratches that I couldn't figure out. Sprint billed the restocking fee. Now back to my 6S Plus. That's better than looking at the 11 Pro Max scratches all day long for years. Maybe bad glass batches. New ones in stores look superb. May reconsider 11 Pro Max in a few months.

Same here. I have put the Apple Transparent Back Cover that provides a raised edge that prevents the screen from touching surfaces. Even then I am seeing the scratches when seeing the screen turned off. Although the scratches do not affect display when it is turned on. I am still not sure whether to put a screen protector or demand a replacement from Apple.

Ok. The return period is over. It's been about 16 days now and still not a scratch.

I gave up trying to scratch it, and now that the return period is over, I'm certainly not going to do anything out of the norm to try and scratch it like I have been doing.

At this point I just gotta ask a question.

What the heck are you people doing to your freaking phones?!?!?!?!

I can not reproduce this with any of my pockets, rubbing the screen on salt that I put on the table, scraping my keys back and forth along the front and back... nothing.

You do realize that anything with a hardness of 6 or above "will" scratch your screen right?

I would ask you all to google the hardness chart, look at things that are a 6 or above, and ask yourself if your phone could have come in contact with one of those materials.

I could not reproduce this. And I have tried with things that are below a 6.

Sorry.
