mac thinks my ipad is new

i've been having batttery life and charging issues forever, but this one is new. when i plug my ipad pro into my mac, itunes is not recognizing it as a previously synced ipad. it give me two choices: set up as new ipad or restore from backup. i don't particularly want to do either. also, the ipad will not charge when plugged into my mac. i've tried four different cords, all of which are plugged directly into the desktop (27" imac). same result with all. please help.

thanks.

iPads cannot charge from any Mac.

The trickle charge from a Mac's USB port through the USB cable isn’t enough to really charge any iPad.

It seems as if your iPad may have went into recovery mode.

If you never made previous backup of that iPad, I am afraid your data is already gone.

Follow tne directions that iTunes is telling to do.

Apple mobile iDevices are a computer, just like any desktop/laptop computer.

They can glitch, malfunction and fail at any time, anywhere for any reason.

Regular backups guard against this inevitability.

Good Luck to You!
