iPad does not connect to iTunes.

Since my iPad (8th Gen) is not backed up (due to the lack of iCloud storage (upgrading storage is the last option)), I wanted to back it up on my Windows 10 laptop using the latest version of (yes, I've checked) iTunes. When I connect the iPad to my computer with the USB-C to Lightning cable (that came in the box), nothing happens, the iPad only starts to charge. I don't even get a notification on my laptop that a device is connected. I tried to connect other devices trough the same USB-C port (I only have one on my laptop) using different cables and everything shows up as connected. I tried to Reset Location & Privacy on my iPad, I tried restarting the laptop. I tried turning the iPad on and off. The cable seems to be in perfect state since it's charging the iPad without any problems. Nothing helps. There is still no device icon in iTunes nor any signs of connection between these devices. Is there a solution? Are there some other ways to back up Apple devices? Or perhaps delete all the precious back ups and THEN back up? Thank you for your help.
