Quicktime Won't Play video Embedded into PDF

I have the PADI Encyclopedia of Recreational Diving on DVD. The Encyclopedia is in pdf format (I access it with Preview) and has embedded videos (in .mov format).

When I click on the video links, I get the "bonk" sound and video will not play. No error message appears. If I navigate to the subfolder containing the videos, I can click on them and play them using Quicktime.

I've talked with other Mac users who own the Encyclopedia DVD who are able to click on the embedded videos and play them.

Any suggestions on what the issue may be and how I can fix this?

I've tried this on my iMac and MacBook Air with no success. I'm running the latest version of the Mac OS on both.

Hello Jeep2691and thanks for being a part of Apple Support Communities.

I see you're having some issues playing embedded videos from a PADI DVD on both an iMac and a MacBook Air.

As Apple has not made an iMac with an integrated SuperDrive in quite a few years and has never made a MacBook Air with the feature, I'm assuming you're using an external drive on both devices.

Is it an Apple-branded SuperDrive or is it a standard USB DVD drive made by someone else?

If you copy the PDF file as well as the video folder from the DVD on to the Internal drive of one of the Macs, do the videos play when you access the link?

Cheers.
