Iphone 11 Pro Max and Carplay not working

I have the new iPhone 11 Pro Max and a 2018 Nissan Maxima with carplay. Carplay worked with my previous Iphone X even after the IOS 13 upgrade but with the Iphone 11 Pro Max carplay just keeps saying it won't start and retries again. Any ideas?

Also having the same issue on my 2016 Yukon Denali. I've had 2 phone conferences with Apple Engineers and they installed some diagnostic software to see what is going on. They said a reply can take 24 hours to 4 days. Will update.

The fact you still have any issues means this software is flawed.

I have two cars that basically have the same BMW OS, a 19 Mini JCW and a 20 Supra GR. They are both wireless and use similar BMW OS. The Supra works perfectly and the Mini is a steaming pile. The Mini worked perfectly with my iPhone X. It still works perfectly if I use a iPhone X using the previous OS. They screwed this up and they need to fix it! I cannot even use BT on my Mini now as it wants to use CP and when I try to set up without CP it refuses! Apple support has been a joke!

It is definitely software related. My problem occurs intermittently with my IPhone 11 Pro and my son’s 11max. I have done all of the “fixes” people have reported on this forum. Nothing works short of “forgetting this car” and resetting. This will work for one day or maybe three weeks. I have gone to the Apple store, allowed them to run a diagnostic and send to Apple, called support, have had my ticket “escalated”, the whole bit. My longest time without issue was the time between iOS 13.2.2 and as soon as the 13.2.3 came out, it started happening again. My particular problem is total disconnect from audio with phone or Siri.

An update on Carplay and my 2017 Chevy Bolt......... I never checked the radio controls

The new phone must have turned off the "allow CarPlay" switch on the radio.

I never imagined that would happen as I did a direct update from my old 8+

to the 11 Pro Max. After a trip to Chevy and much time chatting with Apple the

advisor asked if I could "reboot" my radio so I started poking around. After seeing

the switch I remembered setting it some 2.5 years ago...... DUH!!!!!

I've been trying to keep an eye on this thread to see if an update that fixes the issue actually comes up. I've read a lot about how many people are trying to fix this by doing things like "buying different adapters", or different lightning cables and what not; when the issue lies in the charging/data transfer capability of the phone. Try this and you'll see what I mean. Charge your phone to 100% then go plug it in your car stereo and launch AppleCarPlay; it works no issues; however, as the batter use goes below 100% you'll start seeing the issue again. I can't wait for Apple to fix this!!!

My issue has nothing at all to do with charge level. I’ve had it working on 20% charge and have had it fail at 100%. I think these attempts at “figuring it out” have all been coincidental and nothing is consistent beginning with the issues reported. The only consistent pattern here is that Car Play does not work efficiently with the 11 pro or the 11 pro max and thus far, there is no permanent fix.

I have upgraded to the latest 13.3 and tried all the various suggestions. As of yesterday I've been able to figure out that if my iPhone 11 Pro Max is fully or near fully charged, then CarPlay in My 2018 Nissan Maxima works. If its not fully charged it doesn't work.

I did also figure out that Waze doesn't seem to work well in either case. But at least I have a solution. Still hoping for the complete solution, but that is progress.

I’m guessing that it has something to do with the fast charging capability of the iPhone. It might be pulling too much or not enough when it needs power, messes up with the CarPlay connection.

From my experience, running Waze, and Google Play Music disconnects the CarPlay connection (even with usb-c female adapter). For now, I’ve used strictly Apple Maps and Apple Music and it works find.🤞🏼

Has anyone here joined Apple Beta program? Where you install a beta version of the iOS and report bugs (specifically this issue) on the daily? I think this is the best way to address this IMO.

Hey all, so in my case, I finally swapped my 6 foot long MFI certified cable for a 6 inch long one instead, and the problem has disappeared.

I noticed a genuine Apple cable that came with the phone worked vs. my 6 foot MFI one, so decided to just buy a different shorter one.

This was with a Nissan Leaf. Hope this data point helps some others in here.
