Iphone 11 Pro Max and Carplay not working

I have the new iPhone 11 Pro Max and a 2018 Nissan Maxima with carplay. Carplay worked with my previous Iphone X even after the IOS 13 upgrade but with the Iphone 11 Pro Max carplay just keeps saying it won't start and retries again. Any ideas?

Also having the same issue on my 2016 Yukon Denali. I've had 2 phone conferences with Apple Engineers and they installed some diagnostic software to see what is going on. They said a reply can take 24 hours to 4 days. Will update.

OK GOOD CHRISTMAS NEWS TO ALL - Here's the solution to most peoples iPhone 11 Pro CarPlay Issues:

Use the Lightning to USB-C cable that came with your iphone. This phone does not work with the older Apple cables from previous models of iPhones with CarPlay.

You will also need to purchase a USB-A (male) to USB-C (female) adaptor, which will plug into your cars USB socket.

I purchased 'Joyshare USB 3.0 Male (USB-A) to USB 3.1 Type C (USB-C) Female Connector Converter Adapter for USB Type-C Devices - Black - Pack of 2' for £6.99. Note: I already has these adaptors to use with a MacBook Pro - so Im sure there's nothing special about this brand.

Note: I have a 2018 Nissan Leaf and had all sorts of problems before using the cable that came with the iPhone. Finally I can relax and enjoy using CarPlay!

This solution has been proposed and rejected. While I am glad it worked for you the original compliant is for those of us that do NOT REQUIRE a cable at all. This has to be the most useless thread of all time. Every 15 or so replies is someone with a Leaf or a GMC with this problem. BMW products that have WIRELESS Car Play is what we are complaining about...so a new wire ( which indecently does not fix it on Audi products) is not the answer. There is a flaw in the phone and OS that a cable made from Angel tears will not fix.

LOL! So you THINK that thread was helpful? No wonder all you guys using aftermarket cables and discovering that Apple OEM cables is like discovering the Holy Grail is awesome. Do me a favor, stay unhelpful. Here is a newsflash....OEM Apple cables have been the solution since Car Play first rolled out. They planned it that way. Self-Centered, most likely, smarter than most of you...assuredly.

I'm having the same issue as well. My vehicle is a 2018 Murano, and CarPlay seems to work when it wants to work. There are days when I keep rebooting my iPhone11 just so that I can drive in peace, but at most times it's nerve wrecking and frustrating. I never had any issues on the iPhone X, which i truly regret because now i'm having issues with Apple CarPlay.

I've researched many ideas in trying to configure this annoying problem. I've shut off screen time and i've also tried to alter some settings that maybe causing a block. I think I should just give this phone to my wife since she loves the camera so much. I'm more concerned with CarPlay connecting properly the way it used to on the iPhone X. If I have to downgrade back to the iPhone X i don't really care, at this point i just want to throw this iPhone 11 out the window over and over again in my mind

I was able to connect with an apple support analyst. Here is what was causing my problem, when I got my iPhone 11 Pro Max I used my old iPhone Xs Max to transfer the data over to my iPhone 11 Pro Max. With that being said, the settings of the Xs Max, were now on my iPhone 11 Pro Max. The recommendation from Apple was to remove the old CarPlay setting on my iPhon 11 Pro Max, and reconnect my iPhone 11 Pro Max with the cable to my Murano and redo the CarPlay setup. After doing this, my phone is now working 100% of the time. Every time I connect it leveraging either my old lighting cable with USB or my new lighting cable with USB-C it works.

I found a work around for my wired CarPlay 2018 Nissan Murano and the iPhone 11 Pro Max. To get CarPlay working, it required the USC female to USB male adapter many have mentioned in this thread. It also required the Apple Smart Battery case. It seems this problem exists when the phone isn’t fully charged, CarPlay will fail to launch every time. With the battery case on, the phone is always at 100%. CarPlay is now working 100% of the time, no audio skipping, failed launches, or stuttering. I’m also using an Anker MFI certified USB-C to Lightning cable.

This obviously is an incredibly expensive work around, but I thought I’d share for those who rely on CarPlay to be functional.

My question now is, is the problem related to the iPhone hardware, iOS 13, or both? If it’s just the hardware, can Apple ever fix this with a software update?

I am in iOS 13.3.1 beta, issue still exist.

but I found the solution: USB C female to USB male converter, then use the original USB C to lifting cable coming with the iPhone 11 Pro Max, it works
