Iphone 11 Pro Max and Carplay not working

I have the new iPhone 11 Pro Max and a 2018 Nissan Maxima with carplay. Carplay worked with my previous Iphone X even after the IOS 13 upgrade but with the Iphone 11 Pro Max carplay just keeps saying it won't start and retries again. Any ideas?

Also having the same issue on my 2016 Yukon Denali. I've had 2 phone conferences with Apple Engineers and they installed some diagnostic software to see what is going on. They said a reply can take 24 hours to 4 days. Will update.

I have new IPhone 11 and car play works perfectly only when phone is at 100% battery charge. Even at 97% will not work. I have iOS 13.3. Seems Apple has had this issue a long time and still not fixed. 2018 Nissan Murano. Same issues as others have indicated. Going to try using a usb voltage meter to connect through. Seems like this may interrupt the charging which seems to Be the cause. Never had any issues with my iPhone 6.

Same here. Only, not full proof solution is I have to use the Apple battery pack case along with my 11 pro max so the disconnects would not be as much. Either way, it is really frustrating. I usually have to use my other line with is an iPhone SE for my Apple Maps navigation and Apple Music with CarPlay.

The update iOS 13.3.1 at least seems to have fixed the issue between my iPhone 11 Pro and my MINI Cooper S (2018), which uses only wireless CarPlay. Now audio plays without irritating cutouts and the interface seems stable. I would be interested to learn why there was a problem that lasted four moths but Apple don't seem ready to tell us.

After this experience I will wait for reviews and comments before upgrading any of my Apple products.

I can con confirm that the iOS 13.3.1 does NOT fix the issue. No sound for phone calls or Siri continues to be an intermittent/random problem with my 11pro and 2019 Subaru Crosstrek. I have tried every single “fix” on this forum. Just sent the USB C adapter and cable back because it didn’t help. I can be talking on the phone one min and the next phone call will not have any sound (it connects, but no sound).

i have made 4 reports directly to Apple.

I think this is a safety issue.

I wish for someone to propose a fix that actually has lasted over one month, otherwise I will personally not consider it a fix. Ive gone as long as three weeks with no issues. Then, BAM!

@kokopelli.ck I have had success for almost 2 months, albeit a bit touchy. Everything has to be perfect; warm car, USB-C adapter, lightening cord, phone on locked screen, wait for phone to connect to Bluetooth then plug in. I only get the skipping if the car is cold. It does take a few attempts to connect sometimes (sometimes immediate) to CarPlay but eventually does and stays. Not the most convenient thing and it definitely needs improvement but I did not notice any difference with the 13.3 update so that was a waste of time! .

I’m glad you’ve had success! Unfortunately, my issue isn’t with connectivity. I connect quickly and easily every time no matter it the car is cold, warm, already connected to Bluetooth, not connected to Bluetooth, whether it’s 100% charger or at 20% and no matter what cable or connector I’m using. My problem is with randomly not connecting with sound on phone calls, no sound for Siri, therefor no sound for navigation or messaging. It will only work again once my car is turned off for about 5 minutes, then it will work correctly until the next random event. Personally, I think my problem has something to do with Siri. The other problem I have is my lock screen sound randomly gets loud. Like volume ten, even tho my sound is tuned low. It goes back to normal when I ask Siri a question. So given this along with all Siri function stops randomly in my car, I can’t help but think there is some connection.

I spoke with a Sr. Apple Support Engineer today about this issue. He confirmed that this is an ongoing issue with all Nissan models 2017 thru current. They are working with Nissan to get to the bottom of the issue and the best that can be done at this point is to keep your phone up to date as the fix will likely come via an iOS update.

I've had this exact same issue with my 11 pro and my 2018 Maxima. Apple gave me a brand new phone and I'm still having this issue about 70% of the time. Nissan says its Apple and Apple says it might be my car. But my girlfriends Iphone X has 0 problems connecting every single time. I am beyond frustrated with this. I've resorted to using a phone holder just to use my GPS in my brand new car. I've tried every possible solution and none of them work. I appears that the only option is to get a different phone :-(

Well my friend, I used an iPhone 7 IOS 12 on my Maxima with no issues, then switched to an Android OnePlus 6T because I refused to pay for an IPhone pro and the Android Auto experience was so much worse that I had the brilliant idea to change it for an IPhone Pro to avoid the Android auto continuous random disconnections and now a year later also using a phone holder in front of the useless beautiful dashboard screen 🤷🏻‍♂️
