disable mfi hearing ios 13

I do not have hearing aids but since updating to ios 13 I have noticed people sometimes are unable to hear me when I make a phone call.. just a regular phone call, speaking into the phone. I have checked settings on my iphone 7 and see that under accessibility > hearing devices > MFI hearing devices automatically turns on, when I have the bluetooth clicked on (and even not using it), and keeps searching for devices. I have a sense this may be affecting my sound routing. How can I disable or stop this, without manually clicking bluetooth on and off? Thanks in advance

Hi ncjoni54,

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities. I understand that you’re unable to be heard on calls, and I’d love to share some information with you.

First, it’s common for your device to show “Searching” when going into MFI Hearing Devices in your Accessibility settings. iOS will automatically try to locate devices, as it does when searching for nearby Bluetooth devices in Bluetooth settings. However, if you don’t see any MFI Hearing Devices paired, then audio shouldn’t be affected in this way.

For this issue, I recommend following each of these steps:

If the microphones on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch aren't working

Be sure to test calls with multiple contacts, remove any iPhone accessories or connected Bluetooth devices, test your microphones in other apps (i.e. Voice Memo app), and try making a FaceTime call.

Kind regards.
