Magazines won’t download on Apple News + since upgrading to iPadOS 13

NONE of my magazines will download (followed or unfollowed) since the iOS update. Glad they’ve finally added the feature to remove issues. Now how about letting us download the new ones! And, yes, I’ve submitted feedback to Apple.

I miss Texture.

I have the same problem. See the cloud, the three dots but when you click on those, there is no option to download. I’ve been subscribing to this since my Texture app ended and it’s really irritating!

I have the same problem with my iPad as Rcl214 described above. It is erratic - sometimes magazines that I follow will download automatically and sometimes not.

New magazines often have a shadowed cloud icon underneath them but won’t let me click on the cloud icon. If I click the 3 dots below the magazine, I see an option to remove magazine like it’s already downloaded but, in fact, it has not yet dowloaded (and I have been hooked up to a high-speed broadband connection for several days).

Would appreciate a fix.

This is not a known problem. With a new operating system bugs can appear without Apple's knowledge. I ask that you please submit a bug report so Apple can address them in future updates.

Same issues here. Mine only applies to the iPad. My phone still works but I don’t want to read on it. When I hit download some issues will show the download box for a split second and then it goes away and doesn’t download. 1/10 issue will download. It’s very random. I MISS TEXTURE!!! You could actually zoom in on photos (even the adds) and it had hyperlinks on the cover!

Apparently, if the gray cloud is next to the title, it is not (completely?) downloaded. If you click on the 3 dots, it will bring up the download menu. Click "Remove". Then you click "Remove Download". Then click on the three dots again, and click ""Download issue." If you leave the magazines app open, it might download correctly, Maybe. This worked about 90% of the time on my iPad but only occasionally on my iPhone. I have plenty if empty space on my devices.

I have this issue as well. Magazines will not download. Completely black or missing pages on many magazines, especially previous issues. I can barely read previous issues of magazines. Very frustrating. Definitely missing texture!

I have exactly the same issue. I can not download magazines in advance, which used to be so easy and clear with Texture. i miss Texture, it was always working properly. I updated my ipad5 to 13.3 exploitation system. Still does not work. Anybody figured it out? Thanks.

I have a similar issue. I can download any magazine on my iPhone but I can only download certain ones on iPad. When I click the three circles it does not have a option to download. I also miss texture

Ok I think I have an update. If you don’t have an option to download it may already be in the que to be downloaded but since the progress bar at the bottom of the thumbnail is so thin you can hardly see it unless it’s half filled in with red color while downloading. This is a design flaw. Also if Apple had a page that showed you only all magazines in a quest for downloading like Netflix does this may be more apparent. If they are in the que and are not downloading the WiFi may be slow? Or try to find the one that is downloading and see if it is making progress or not. That’s hard to find as it’s random which one is downloading and hard to see the progress bar as it is. Maybe this helps some?

I was having this same problem until I inadvertently solved it. I had started downloading magazines to my iPad that I wanted offline and promptly going into airplane mode, which was lame but working. The last time I did this my iPad told me there wasn’t enough space, I checked my storage and Texture was using 14gb of space?!? I didn’t even have the app on the device anymore Since deleting, we’re back to normal in Apple News+. I hope this helps everyone, I was so frustrated before!
