Facial recognition died

The facial recognition on my wife's iPhone X has quit working. It quit recently, before the iOS 13.x updates. The update did not fix it. She's tried rebooting and setting up from scratch. Where she is at now is the device tells her to put her face within the frame. No matter where she puts it the device won't accept it.

Any suggestions?

If anyone else has this problem, the fix is going to In 'N Out. She had tried to reset up facial recognition multiple times over several days (before and after iOS 13.x upgrade) while at home. Note that facial recognition had been working for the 10 months since she bought the phone, until a few days ago. Anyway, the phone wouldn't go past the step to put her face in the frame. That is, until she went to IN 'N Out for lunch today. While waiting for her hamburger she tried it once again, and presto this time it worked. Guess In 'N Out has the right juju for Apple products.
