HomePod and AirPlay 2

i have 2 Homepods, one in the kitchen and one in living room. They are not selected as a stereo pair. When I listen through both using Siri, the music is seamless and works perfectly. When I use AirPlay 2, the kitchen cuts out intermittently. I have added a WiFi extender in the kitchen with the thought that the kitchen HomePod wasn’t getting a good signal. Sound still cuts out. I have the most updated software on HomePod and iPhone. I have tried switching the Homepods to each location with the same result. I have deleted them and reinstalled them. The issue is obviously AirPlay and maybe I just don’t understand how AirPlay is supposed to work. Anyone have other ideas so AirPlay is as seamless as Siri? :)

Hi,

The source media is coming from my iPhone 7plus. It doesn’t matter if I stream from Amazon, Apple, Pandora or play downloaded playlists from my phone, it still cuts out in the kitchen. This led me to the idea that if I switched the living room and the kitchen HomePod to see if the problem would follow the HomePod but it didn’t. The problem was still in the kitchen and like I said above, I have an extender in the kitchen now so it’s getting a good wifi signal. My router is built into my modem which is located in a guest room, hence the idea that I get the extender to give the HomePod a good signal to work with. I am going to try the idea of shutting off the 5GHz band, I don’t think it’s on but until I can get onto the modem, I won’t know for sure. I won’t be home until Wednesday and this is Tuesday to experiment with that. Thank you for your input. I welcome all ideas. :)
