Face ID not opening Apple Watch Series 3

Hello there, I recently upgraded from an iPhone 7 to an 11 Pro Max (yeah!)

However, when I open my phone with Face ID, my watch doesn’t unlock.

(When I used Touch ID on my iPhone 7, the watch used to unlock)

Can this be sorted out please or is it a fault? Everything else is working on both and my watch IS paired with my new phone.

Apple Watch SE Face ID Unlock I can't setup the face Id unlock using the watch. With the latest updates and both devices connected and unlocked, when I try to turn on the setting on my iphone, after a minute or so, a message comes up saying watch can't be reached to try again. This has been happening for weeks.

I can't unlock my Apple Watch with my iPhone My iPhone wouldn't unlock my Apple Watch after updating to iOS 14.7. iOS 14.7.1 was to fix this for those with Touch ID. I have Face ID and I couldn't unlock my Watch with my iPhone after either update. Is there a fix coming to to help those with Face ID? Watch updated to 7.6.1 and iPhone to 14.7.1

Check the 'Unlock with iPhone' option in the Passcode menu in your Apple Watch app. In my case this option was switched off after the upgrade. Not sure why but enabling it should fix your issue.
