Hey guys,

I purchased (refurbished)  MacBook Pro 15" Retina / OS-2018 / 3.2GHz QUAD i7 / 512GB SSD & 16GB RAM from ebay around April 2019. Problems:

1) Could not remove an extra log in account. Had to send the computer for "repair" and it was fixed in 2 seeks.

2) Intermittently, it started to not boot properly and at times, it restarted on its own.

3) One of the USB port does not work all the time. Initially it did work. May be the cable?

4) Few days ago, storage failure and i created a boot up version on USB.

Question: Should I get my money back? or send it for repair?

History: last macbook pro (new) was purchased in 2009 and it worked perfectly without any issues until 2017, logic board issues.

Should i get money back or send it for repair (probably will take 2 weeks)

Thoughts? suggestions?

There is no standard definition of "refurbished". Some sellers do nothing more than clean the keyboard of accumulated "goo".

If not satisfied, you should ask the seller to fix it, exchange it, or cancel the sale. No seller is likely to reimburse your third-party repair costs without having the opportunity to fix the problems themselves.

When you buy from a third-party, you get money off on the presumption that you (possibly with the seller's help IF and only if a warranty is stated) can deal with whatever problems come up, by yourselves. All others should buy from Apple AND pay for the extended coverage provided by AppleCare PLUS.

From the sound of it you are dealing with an eBay dealer or a brick & mortar store with an eBay presence. Personally, I'd only buy a used/refurbished computer from Apple if I weren't doing it in person. I've purchased a few used/refurbished devices and the only ones that weren't direct from Apple were in a store which allowed me to use it and run diagnostics myself. There a couple online businesses I think highly of but I don't think I'd even purchase a used/refurbished computer from them.

So my answer is return for a refund.

This was my first refurbished macbook purchase. Seller has 99.9% positive feeback with more than 1000 reviews. It's very "weird" that in short amount of time problem such as storage came up. I am not sure if will keep happening. I am thinking about using the refund and use it get macbook pro 13inch from apple. It is an investment. Last one lasted me years and it went everywhere with me in my backpack. No issues at all.

These specs are hard to pass up though and it comes with 3 year warranty.

Anyone else? Just want to make the right decision (least headache).

I contacted the seller and they are willing to refund me even though it has been more than 4 months. I do have a 3 year warranty which requires mailing the Macbook pro. Initially they said no, but then I outlined all the issues in 4 months (came with extra admin account and sent it back for removal, USB port failing and HD failing and they are willing to repair or refund.

It has been only 4 months. 16GB RAM is important

last question:

So I was able to fix the hard drive by erasing and then reformatting. I transferred all of my data from an external. So it is fixed. I spoke to the seller and they will refund me 100%.

Should I just take advantage of this opportunity and get my money back and get it from apple [about $350 more]. I want to get a refund but then I don't because of $$ and RAM is fixed.

thoughts?

thank you
