Trying to play audio files from email attachments make GMAIL APP and OUTLOOK APP Crash IOS13

Yes, I use gmail app.

I confirm it crashes also when trying to play sound file. App version 6.0.190822 on iOS 13.1.2 on iPhone X

I'm guessing this is a bug on gmail app.

We'll have to wait until Google fix it up.

Yes, the old fashioned way of Internet! I hope soon Google will fix the App.

So, in the meantime open Gmail from the Internet and sign in there. Your Mp3 files will play so you can hear voicemail, etc. ;)

I have the same problem. But it didn’t happen til I did the latest update iOS 13.1.2. Before that I could open up my gmail app and listen to audio files til my heart was content. So I’m thinking something changed in iOS 13

Same issue on my iPhone X and iPad 2018. Called Apple and of course factory reset did not fix the issue on the iPad. Only work around I’ve been able to find to listen to the audio attachments is to use Safari on either device and login to the Gmail web site from the browser. Audio attachments play with no issue on both devices.

I work in a VoIP company (RC) and we have a feature that sends email notification to customer for voicemail message with attached audio file but when playing the audio file from gmail app it crashes or closes without any error message. I think this is an issue with the new iOS version since outlook app is also being affected. I have an iPhone X version 13.2 beta and iPhone 7 version 13.1.3 both are having same issue.

Not on two of my Apple devices. Both encountered the issue after the IOS 13 release and not before. Seems it is also an issue with MS Outlook as well. Weird part is if you use Safari, it plays the attachment with no issue.

Make sure you also update the apps in the app store. The update apps now has "moved" to the section accessed by tapping your image on the top right corner of the app store window.

I am having the same problem with IOS 13.1.2 on the iPhone X.

When opening same email on the stock Apple mail app the music plays well no crash.

So definitely a gmail app bug.

Same issue here with Gmail apps on iPad Pro and iPhone 11. It's really messing up my work flow.

Has this been fixed? I just did the update and I regret it. Still crashing
