iPhone 11 Front Camera Blurry

Hi guys,

I just got the new Iphone 11 straight from the box, and I noticed that my front camera is blurry. It has the quality of an android. I thought maybe it was only when trying to take pictures within instagram or snapchat, but it is happening in my camera app as well.

Unless I am in a VERY well lit place, the pictures turn out blurred and as if there is a smoothing filter over my face... my 8 plus pictures were better than this..

Will this be fixed with an update? I don't know whether or not to return my phone.... I only have 10 days left to return it.

Hi everyone. I have the same issue. I noticed that the front facing camera is a bit slower in processing the image, take a closer look once you capture the image, if you are keen enough, you’d see. What I do is stand still and give a second before moving, that’s where I get crisp and sharp images. So you capture and then don’t put down your phone to check the image immediately, hold still for a bit just for a millisecond. The images tend to be crisp and clearer. So inconvenient because hey, we all check after taking a selfie or a groufie. I hope it’s just a software issue and could be fix with a software update. But that’s the tip ya’ll.

I bought 11 pro max on November 2019 and front camera was blurry ; the phone swapped with new one on December. Again couple of days ago I noticed it happened again and unfortunately the App customer service advices for second change! It’s just hassle as all installed apps and settings needs to be installed again!! Initially at App Store , the service man pointed out that there is a physical problem in front camera of some 11 Pro Max.

I’m returning mine. The camera is not an improvement!! I can tell you this bc I’m always taking pictures. I have over 50k photos on my iPhone. I am always taking pictures and selfies.....and my iPhone X and 8 Plus took much better pictures. The quality on the 11 pro max is horrendous and everything is grainy. The camera is slow and always super blurry. Even with flash, the it’s super low quality. For example, if I took a selfie at night with flash in a cab. It wasn’t blurry. But with the iPhone 11 Pro Max. You have to stay very still. Then night mode kicks in and when someone is using your phone. It takes like 3 seconds to take a pic. If it’s a large group. No one stays still and they’re always. blurry. I am perplexed when people say it’s good quality camera. It’s a hit or miss. I’ve taken some nice portrait mode pictures. But seriously. My iPhone X and 8 plus took much better. The day time pictures I’ve taken of myself...my skin look super fake and almost like I’ve used a filter - a bad one too. My skin looks really pale when I’m actually warm tone with olive skin. Maybe I just have a faulty phone. I hate it. Ive never had any issues with any other iPhone. My pictures are just too blurry and quite frankly did what I paid, the quality should be better. Perhaps those who love the camera use it for day time and taking pictures of things and not actually selfies. I hate it.

My sister and my niece both got an 11 pro max and their phone does the same pretty much. I don’t think Apple can do much about it. Also they would need to recreate the same issues/lighting conditions —-in order to fix it. Not going to happen with all the lighting at Apple. I refuse to continue to have blurry pictures. It shouldn’t take long to take a picture and the quality needs to be good. The flash should work better. I rather return it than get a new iPhone 11 Pro Max and miss the window to return this faulty phone. Thank goodness my carrier had a 30 day return policy and I still hadn’t turned my iPhone X.

Why are so many of you comparing your blurry images to your old Android phone! That's pretty much just childish! My iPad Air 2019 takes crappy photos especially in lower light, my Samsung A5 a very inexpensive phone with 16 mp front camera takes great sharp photos. Now I love my iPad except for the camera, and I think the iPhone 11 is a great phone, but it is not immune to tech issues. Probably needs a software update to speed up the camera processing. In the meantime try hold the phone steady for a few seconds after focusing and snapping your photo as suggested in some of the answers in this forum.

Just went to apple yesterday to trade in my iPhone 8plus for the iPhone 11. I am highly disappointed at the camera pixelation, graininess and blurriness!! It looks like 2007 Skype laptop quality or an android phone. My iPhone 8plus had crisp resolution and was faster in capturing movement. It was even better in low light situations too! Really want my iPhone 8 Plus back and its so sad as I waited so long to get my iPhone 11. Apple, how is this possible?!? I try to film in selfie mode and it looks SO bad.

same!! i have the 11 and it takes really great pics but when i use snapchat or the camera in general in a dark area or low lighting area, the quality is like an adroid! the camera quality is grainy and fuzzy like!! which is why i use my ringlight or use flash since its trash. what if its cause of night mode? considering its a new feature night mode is blurry, grainy and fuzzy.

I just got my iPhone 11 pro and I’m so disappointed because i looked forward to it for a long time and when i open the front camera it isnt nearly as good as my 6s. It looks like it has a beauty filter on, I was hoping for a detailed and real picture(not the kind of pictures the androids take)but it looks exactly like that. I don’t know what to do anymore

I agree. Iphone 11’s front camera looks like Android phones. My old phone was İPhone 7 Plus. I compared them and I saw 7 Plus front camera absolutely better than 11. Apple should support 11 users from software sides. This situation makes me anxious. But for back camera’s night mode okay. Although it offers high fps in videos, the videos does not seem enough smooth.
