Mac OS Catalina install failure (starting from Mojave version)

Hi all,

I got an error while updating mac OS from 10.14.6 to Catalina.

I am using Macbook Pro 2019 model.

I started the update from Menu -> info about this mac->check updates

At the end of update process I got the error:

"Some information was unavailable during an internal lookup: (-69808)

Quit the installer to restart your computer and try again".

I reapeted this procedure 2 times but still same problem.

Can you pls help me ?

Anyone else facing this issue ?

my experience:

I started MacBook Air in recovery mode: "option+command+R"
from Terminal
- I listed my drives: diskutil APFS list
- erased the Volume with the -69808 error, mine was VM volume: diskutil eraseDisk APFS VM /dev/[your_volume]
from Disk Utility
- I deleted the VM volume (press "-" sign on left top)
installed Catalina

it seems work now... anyway, the first bad surprise was that my Lightroom 6, paid, copy doesn't work... it a 32bit app. I hope that Adobe will compile a 64bit version...

But my -69808 error exactly included my Macintosh HD volume, but I had not backed up any data from this volume. How could I fix it?

I find out that I can still access my old Macintosh HD if I press "option" and have the log in desk but my password could not work .so I can not access my data still.Any one could help?

Mine was just failing to download and it took me 1 hour to find out.

It just won't download over a wifi connection. I had to turn off wifi and download over an ethernet cable.

Shame on you, Apple!

I’ve erased my HD several times, but Apple Care phone specialists were not able to help me resolve this issue. I made an appointment at the Apple Store tomorrow. Installing an Apple operating system on an Apple device shouldn’t be this complicated.
