album artwork in Catalina Music

I just got rid of my old 2011 iMac and finally put my music to my macbook pro on Big Sur. When I import my music into the Music app, most of my artwork disappears. Since I have been curating this for 16 years, I am feeling a little a frustration coming on. And indeed Apple own artwork collection is very far to be exhaustive and is quite regularly wrong (I hope they do know that some countries exist outside U.S., you know with their own culture and specific editions). I am now reading this thread with a thousand replies, so the problem is known to Apple, but no reply from its people.

That is very disappointing, I mean people with its kind of issues are obviously long term customers. It is really a lack of consideration for a trouble that could be easily solved (all those people have the missing data in their former iTunes library).

I am hoping I will not have not get throughs hundreds of artworks by myself.

In upgrading from Mojave to Big Sur, I can report the same problems with missing album art and tracks. My iTunes files weigh in at almost 5 TB, 12,000 albums, with every single album having cover art. So my iTunes library is on an external drive. I never buy music from Apple; all my music is imported from CD or downloads outside of the Apple Store.

When you have this much music, as many of you have found out, the workarounds simply don't scale well. Too much hassle. At this point I am about to roll back to Mojave. And for me there were other glitches in upgrading to Big Sur, so I'm done with it for now.

At least my backups are all good ...

I've had many Mac OS upgrade hassles throughout the years, but I've never decided to do a rollback before -- until now.

I agree with the roll back to Mojave in which I did twice dye if you don't keep an eye 👁️ n the updated Big Sur and Apple will force an upgrade even though you tell it not to. Like what we work for Apple now? Apple works for us. Fix your Imusic product, and while your add it stop with all these updates.

I am having the same problems on my movies, shame on Apple for releasing this with this problem!

Same problem, Mac so slow, trying to do anything else on the MAC is useless as it just freezes, great update guys, NOT.

I'm having the same problem. I purchased a few songs and the album artwork won't show up with the song's file. This is after I had updated to Catalina.

I spoke to an apple associate and she said that the album's artwork no longer shows with the file in finder anymore. SMH

Well, I spoke too soon. It worked initially, but after a re-start of the Music app, almost all of the artwork disappeared. I won't get that 24 hours back. Back to the drawing board! 😔

2 weeks later and no reply from Apple? Hard to believe.....

Apple never responds to discussions here in the communities. You should not expect a response here.

time after time after time. i've spent a lifetime fixing up artwork that apple screw up when they decide to launch a new version. it's pathetically incompetent.

Same situation here.

Had to revert to Mojave.

Please let us know if upgrading directly from Mojave to 10.15.2 solves this very annoying problem?

Why can't they just leave iTunes alone. Thanks Apple (NOT) I have 173GB of media with no thumbnails now since getting Catalina!

Tell why this is happening Apple, at least do that! Stop working on useless emojis and sort out your system.
