helper application

iPad 5, iPadOS 13.1.2, Pages App

When trying to open a new document or a previous document the following error appears: "Couldn't communicate with a helper application. "Blank" can't be opened right now. Pages couldn't read the file."

Restarted the iPad, didn't resolve the issue.

Hard reboot of the iPad didn't resolve the issue.

Reinstalled the Pages app didn't resolve the issue.

Anyone have a solution?

I understand from your post that when you're trying to open a new document or previous document in Pages you get an error message saying "Couldn't communicate with a helper application. "Blank".

I see you have already done some great troubleshooting steps so far but none of them helped.


Let's try resetting all settings and then test in Pages to see if a document opens. To reset all settings follow the steps below.

Settings > General > Reset > Resetting All Settings.


Before performing this task be sure to do a backup of your device first.
