Canon Pixma Printer MG7550 and Macbook Pro Communication Failure

I am unable to print from any device without first "waking up" the printer. once awake it will print fine but leave it for a short period and the system preferences Printers and Scanners messages with "unable to find printer", "looking for printer" etc. I then set up from scratch inputting the router password and all is fine until the next time. Contacted Canon, they referred me to Apple because according to them it is an operating system error. Spent an hour talking to Apple support - initially the problem appeared resolved but unfortunately not so. It has been suggested that it could be something to do with my router settings and IP addresses and that perhaps the printer should have a fixed IP address. Unfortunately, this may have been communicated to me in Urdo for what sense that conveys in terms of applying that information! Any help in solving this tiresome conundrum would be appreciated.

It does seem that this issue occurred following my change of ISP and having a Vodafone router.

Hi Staffanrosen, I think there are two seperate issues at work here. I have since been in touch with my ISP, who in turn contacted Canon because surprise surprise my Pixma MG7550 printer isnt fully compatible with the particular Vodafone router. The very nice Vodafone person changed the Domain Name Server (DNS) Address to 8 8 8 8 and the Secondary DNS Address (optional) to 8 8 4 4 and set up a static IP address for the printer. He said the changes could take up to 24 hours to take place and said he would ring me at the same time the following day to check that everything was working OK. The changes made not the slightest bit of difference, didnt take place in the subsequent 24hours, still haven't and of course he didnt ring me back the following day either! I should add that these problems have only occured since changing ISP and router! So now, as the lesser of the two evils (one being sticking needles in my eyes) I have to go back to Vodafone and go all through the wretched business with another help desk "technician" all over again!!
