black screen after sleep

After last night MacOS Catalina update, when I try to awake my MacBook Pro (2017) from 1-min sleep, the screen does NOT show anything but black. I can notice that the screen and keyboard are turned on. After rebooting the MacBook, it becomes normal. Every time I want to awake the MacBook from sleep, the issue repeats, so I need to reboot every time. I tried option+command+P+R and shift+control+option, but neither helps. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I and many other users are having this same problem after the Catalina update. There are several posts on here about the issue that were prematurely marked as solved by posters who later realized the issue was not solved but they're unable to undo the solved status.

For example:

I've reinstalled the OS, created and tried different user accounts, reset SMC and NVRAM, started it in safe mode, and removed all my login items and the issue persists.
